Changing the context menu for Windows 7

It's a small point, but I'd like to make the context menu make more of a visual change when I point at an item. MS has made the highlight be just a vague outline, with no color change. Is there a utility I can use to do this? Also, do you have a favorite context menu editor/builder?

Google "Change Color Scheme Windows 7" and I think you should be able to do what you want.

That doesn't seem to do anything to context menus that I can find.

I'm not sure what you mean, when I highlight a context menu item there is the blue outline but the background changes to a light blue colour as well.

  1. Point and click on the start menu.
  2. Select control panel
  3. Choose Appearance and Personalization
  4. Choose Personalization
  5. If you choose Windows Classic theme, then context menus will change to blue when you point to them.
  6. I am pretty sure there are ways to customize individual characteristics, like the selected menu item, but I am feeling too lazy to search for it.

You need to edit aero.msstyle to do this. If there is a good free msstyle editor, I don't know it. All of the ones I know about are gone.
