Trump hints at 3rd party run

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news...take-the-money

Quote:
The real estate mogul also appeared to keep the door open to a third-party presidential bid if "the wrong" candidate seals the GOP nomination.

"I am watching very carefully. If the wrong person is nominated, you watch what happens with Donald Trump and what he does," Trump said. "Because we have to beat Obama. This country cannot last any longer with Obama as our president."
This guy is not so smart, is he? He wants Obama out, and then he hints he might run as a 3rd party candidate. Doesn't he realize that would give Obama his second term? Doesn't he remember Ross Perot? The guy must have an ego the size of Mount Everest.

Some of this.

Okay, pretty much all of this.

That explains the lack of oxygen to the brain.

Funny!

I still think he is enhancing his "brand" with this blustering. His show gains in popularity each time he comes out with one of his rants.

This is it exactly. A Trump third party run could cinch the election for Obama, and I suspect Trump knows that, and so won't run.

That implies a significant number of people would vote for Trump if he ran. I don't think that would happen.

I doubt Trump even cares who wins.

Meh, I don't think Trump really cares if Obama wins in 2012 or not. He seems to switch his politics every couple years as conveinent. His current Obama-hatred is just a publicity stunt so he could pretend to have a reason to run for Prez and get some free publicity.

Actually, I'll go ahead and make a prediction. If Obama wins in 2012, Trump will make a big show of supporting whatever Obama's first big policy initiative is post-election. Not because he'll actually care, but because "Former Obama foe supports President on issue X" will get some headlines for a week or so.

Looks like Obama needs to kill another terrorist leader...

As I recall, Perot was able to get Bush-41 out, which I think was his actual goal.

But considering that he went from being a moderate independent to throwing in with the crazy teabaggers and birthers, I don't think he can re-invent himself as a more moderate candidate.

Bingo.

Are Trump and Gingrich having a secret contest to see which one can end up the bigger joke? Because, hell, they're starting to make Sarah Palin look smart by comparison. Which is saying a great deal, considering that in addition to being about 10 fries short of a Happy Meal, she's dumber than a box of hammers.

I think Herman Cain beat them with his "As president, I will only pass small beels" pledge. He said he would veto all bills longer than three pages. If he were elected and I were Speaker of the House, I'd start using unreadably small type and enormous sheets of paper.

Funny! Yeah, maybe Trump and Gingrich are in a dumb down mode. I expect they could take lessons from Palin.

Maybe Trump is secretly a liberal, and his goal is, in fact, to ensure Obama's re-election.

If not for the fact everything Trump does is done just to generate more publicity for himself, I'd say you're on to something.

You generously assume he had some credibility before that.

After what Nader did to Gore in 2000, I don't thing either party is going to take a third party candidate as a joke. This is just blackmail. It is just a matter of what the Republicans have to cough up make him go away. An ambassadorship? A cabinet post?
