Birth control, breast pumps, counseling for abuse? Are we going to do pedicures & manicures as well?

You know, let me just start by saying that this type of shit enrages me more than anything else being spewed as part of the bullshit political rhetoric today. I can over look OBAMA IS A TERRORISTS!!!1111!!! with a minor eye roll, but this shit effects me directly and maybe my rage is entirely selfish, but I really do feel like this shit right here should piss everyone off.

The Federal VP of Family PAC went on Fox News the other day and said the following brilliance (the most enraging bits bolded by me). Warning, slut shaming ahoy!

Obviously, there are about a million logical issues with all of her points there, but goddamn. To quote someone on Fark: " Perhaps we should just accept our lot in life and get back in the kitchen and cover up that black eye like a good, submissive woman should."

Per usual, Colbert hits the nail right on the head.

Purely out of spite and bitterness (and a little rage), I’m off to donate some money to NARAL Pro Choice and Planned Parenthood. Fuck Sandy Rios and fuck Family Pac. I hope to whatever deity that is listening that every woman can have safe, consensual, pleasurable, unlimited, unrestricted, shameless sex anytime and anywhere she pleases.

Gotta love the assumption that if you’re a woman who needs birth control, you’re obviously screwing any and every man you can find.

Like Colbert says, we’re all just a bunch of sluts hanging on the edge of nympho-hood. The minute the pharmacist hands us those pills, we’re going to fuck him, the cashier, and everyone in line at the store. We’re just cock hungry sluts like that.

Oh, I just realized I forgot to put a link in the OP for the comments. Click here

CITE???
The idea that incest victims are often forced to have abortions to get rid of the “evidence” is often used by anti-abortion groups, but I’ve yet to see any stats on the practice.

What do they have against breast pumps? Seems kinda perverse to say that people who have sex should just resign themselves to being pregnant constantly and then rail against buying them breast pumps. If your going to be constantly churning out babies all the time, you could at least help feed all the Jr’s.

Simplicio, didn’t you hear? In Communist China (and we’re totally heading down that road), they feed their babies breast milk. Do you want to be like Communist China? Do you?! :dubious:

Breast pumps come with the dangerous implication that women will be going back to work after they give birth. What year do you think this is?

Now that we are $14 trillion in debt, why are we covering things like this with no copay?

Regards,
Shodan

A question potentially worth debating, but one that totally misses the point of this thread.

Because its several orders of magnitude cheaper then covering the resulting babies.

““Why in the world would you encourage your daughters, and your granddaughters, and whoever else comes behind you to have unrestricted, unlimited sex anytime, anywhere”

This is exactly why you’ve got to constantly be looking over your shoulder.

I love Sandy [del]Vagina’s[/del] Rios’ parting shot -

The nerve of Jehmu Greene, the former Women’s Media Center president - using facts and science! Bitch!

I am saddened and a little disturbed that there is even a debate over these things at this point. Creating good access to birth control and other women’s health services seems like such a no-brainer, win-win to me. And equating them with pedicures and manicures - nice minimizing there, Sandy. Yes, getting a regular pap smear to detect early cervical cancer is EXACTLY the same as getting a pedicure.

Well of course it is. If it’s only for women, it’s automatically frivolous.

Umm, where’s this CVS?

cancels first pedicure appointment

Make up your mind, I gotta adjust the stirrups.

Because the long term effects are those that benefit greater society as a whole. The law in question also offers free HIV and STD testing, cancer screenings, etc.

Speaking as someone without insurance, if I get some horrible crotch or tit cancer and end up in the ER, I promise I have no way of paying my astronomical medical expenses. Fortunately, I can afford to pay full price in a doctor’s office for all the annual screenings I need. But when I was in college? There’s no way.

Preventive screening is much cheaper than the cost of treating someone’s cancer in a hospital for free. Or birthing a baby without insurance-- my friend who had a baby at 20 has never paid her $40k hospital bill for that.

Yeah, apothecary based orgies are getting to be a real nuisance here in Europe. As a man, I have to schedule an entire afternoon just to refill a prescription.

This is in response to Shodan, if that wasn’t clear! Too many of y’all posted while I typed

And don’t you dare! Think about it: with all the money you’ll save on slut pills and pedicures, you’ll be able to afford so many abortions!

Glancing over the responses in this post, I happened to stumble* upon four straw men. I’d say I was surprised, but I’d be lying.

Oh, and LOL @ Someone saying Jehmu Greene using facts and science.
