Canadian Dopers (BC)! Dental questions.

Roomie suffered a bit of sticker shock when she had a molar pulled today. My best fiend, when he lived here nearly a decade ago, didn't have dental insurance and went to BC to get his teeth cleaned/worked on. He said it's cheaper up there.

Is that true? How much do dentists in BC charge for a deep cleaning? Tooth extraction? Implant?

I was able to dig up a few receipts from my last few dentist visits, in West Kelowna, south central BC.

Panoramic X-Ray: $79.90
Cleaning, cavity prevention treatments, & checkup: $92.10
Many, many fillings between $110-205 mostly under $150
Extraction of back top molar: $248.00

And it was $1207 to get both bottom wisdom teeth out at the oral surgeon with full anaesthesia. I think that was more than it normally costs though as they were coming in very oddly.

I've never been bothered to shop around for dentists though, so I've no clue if I'm getting ripped off. Just kind of kept going to the same guy my parents picked out when I was in my teens.
