Can I have someone move my $ if I end up in the hospital?

I make very little money but i have some saved up that a week long hospital stay could wipe right out. I’m thinking of giving someone my bank numbers so they could move my money if something happened to me. Is this a bad idea? Also, If I did have my money moved, would the hospital be able to come after my house?

I am not a lawyer, but it sounds like it might be fraud or some other illegal or antisocial thing.

Of course they could. Just like your phone company and your credit card companies and everyone else that you owe money to.

Am I understanding that you want someone to hide your money so you don’t have to pay for care that you may need to save your life?

Well, when you put it like that it sounds like a horrible idea! A few of my friends and I work for ourselves, we don’t have health insurance or retirement money, just a small cushion of savings. Just wondering if there’s a way to sidestep the instant financial ruin that a week long stay in the hospital would wreak.

What you’re asking about here is fraud, and it’s against board rules to ask for help in breaking the law. This thread is closed.
