Sweet Zombie Jesus, is this gonna blow. I loved Jump Street back in the day, and this movie doesn’t resemble the show in any way. I stopped watching the trailer halfway through.
Yeah that looked pretty awful. It’s obvious the original script was unrelated to 21 Jump Street and the name was attached for “brand recognition”.
At least the movie doesn’t take seriously the idea of twentysomething (or even thirtysomething) police officers posing as high school students. The film seems to be intended as a comedy. (Whether or not it succeeds is a different question.)
Looks like Jonah Hill was losing weight during the filming, which will be a weird continuity mess.
Also, looks painfully unfunny.
Well, aside from Johnny Depp, who has a cameo as his old character from the show, Tommy Hanson.
yeah, this is gonna suck like a black hole.
I saw Holly Robinson in the trailer also.
…Huh? It uses the premise of the show.
They’re doing a Starsky and Hutch on it - take an old, serious TV show and rewrite it as a comedy, and throw in some cameo’s of the original cast.
I expect this new movie to be as funny as the S&H one - not very.
I’ll wait for the reviews. Could be funny.
The original series went off the air 20+ years ago and wasn’t big in syndication. I think it’s fair to say that most fans are outside of the target demographic for the new movie.
It looks hilarious to me
I’m seeing a plateful of fail, and I am so over Jonah Hill.
There is a thread in the pit that references this exact thing happening recently, and yes it was to bust kids for joints.
It happens in real life so I mean…
90% of Americans Unable to Recognize Jonah Hill After Weight Loss
(Not sure if that is an actual Onion headline or just should be one.)
Well, I do recall a thread in this forum about how horrible Rise of the Planet of the Apes was going to be after watching the preview and it turned out to be one of the best movies of the year, so I think I will withhold judgement.
Previews of X-Men First Class had me convinced it would blow more than a hurricane, yet I watched it anyway and surprisingly it blew me away.
But I still think this one’s gonna suck.
If Jonah Hill wants to be in this kinda movie, they should just expand that commercial he had for some video game a few months ago. Now THAT I’d wanna see.
I thought the original show as pretty funny, really. Sure, they’d take the drug busting seriously, but it was sprinkled throughout with a lot of comedy. Or at least, that’s how I remember it. The McQuade Bros!
You mean Academy Award Nominee Jonah Hill?
Proof that the End Times are upon us.
