Anyone got a spare SWTOR friend trial pass?
I've been thinking about trying The Old Republic for awhile since World of Warcraft has gotten old and stale to me, but I don't want to drop $60 on an MMO before I know if i'm going to like it. It's been a few months since it came out so I went to their website today in hopes of finding a free trial.
And lo and behold, there is one! And lo and behold, they've decided they want to go the annoyingly overcomplicated Gmail-in-2006 direction and make it so you can only play the trial if a subscriber gives you an invitation!  I know we have some players here on the Dope, and according to the FAQ on that site every paying subscriber gets three invitations they can send out. Any chance that one of you lovely people has a spare one lying around?

I'd like to second this. My boyfriend wants to try the game but after the experience with Star Wars Galaxies, he's a bit wary of paying for the game without trying it.
If anyone has a friend trial they're just dying to give away (after Smapti gets one), could I have it? Thanks!!

The site's undergoing maintenance right now so I can't get info from the link, but I ought to have some if that's the case. Let me look into it.

ETA: If anyone trying out the game is interested, the Doper guilds are on the Master Zar Levin server (one for each faction). So my boyfriend got his code (thanks Skammer!!) and then spent HOURS (seriously, like 8 hours) waiting for a patch to install. Once it did......he couldn't play it. His desktop has finally been surpassed by gaming technology. While he works on upgrading the desktop though, he installed it on his laptop and is very much enjoying the game. He had been getting bored with Star Trek Online and already got bored with WoW and CoH so it looks like SWTOR will be his new game.
This is perfect for me because now I wont have to share Diablo III with him when it comes out.

Fair warning, the free trial stops at only level 15. I went on the site to subscribe, and they want you to pay $40 for the first month, and $15 for every subsequent month. The plot is entertaining, but not THAT entertaining. I was expecting the $15/month from the get-go.

According to the website, it's $40 to buy the standard edition with the first month of game time free. You don't start paying the $15 or whatever it is until the second month. So the first month is the cost of the game, not an increased game-time rate.

Hmmm, now that he's trying to do it, it's not letting him. Anyone know if you have to be a subscriber for a certain length of time before they'll let you send out invites?
