Quixotic78, a long-time member of the SDMB, has been banned from the board.
He was banned for impersonating a member of the Straight Dope staff.
Quixotic78 had a personal disagreement with another poster on the board and to mess with this poster quixotic78 created an email address that purported to be from me and looked like perhaps an address that I might use … and he wrote the object of his disaffection claiming to be me and threatening them with suspension from the board, among other things.
Maybe he meant it as a joke. Maybe he just wanted to mess with this guy’s head a bit. I don’t know why he did it. But it’s not funny and not the way you should act with other posters and not something that we will accept.
In the wake of this I am changing the email address I have been using to handle Straight Dope matters. From this point on, please use tubadiva@straightdope.com. Accept no substitutes.
