It is implausible that pchaos is a lawyer and he should stop claiming to be one

I’m not the first person to note this by any means, nor is this thefirst thread in which I have mentioned it, but pchaos really needs to stop pretending to be a lawyer. Heck, maybe he even recognises this himself:

In particular (and this is the reason I started another thread after samclem closed the other one) he needs to stop giving awful, dangerous legal advice such as this:

Which as noted by a real lawyer is the opposite of the truth.

Pchaos:

I’m just here to say that it’s about time that clown got pitted. Every thread he participates in becomes a trainwreck. He’s says exactly the right thing to stir up the Teeming Millions.

Am I allowed to use the T word in this forum? I hope so. He’s a troll, or so ridiculously dense that he may as well be one.

And, there’s no way he’s a lawyer. I know lawyers. Lawyers are good friends of mine. Pchaos, sir, you are no lawyer.

Well, birdlaw is complicated. Not everyone gets it.

I wholeheartedly agree.

By “birdlaw” you obviously mean the concept of traffic light signalling, therefore I can say without hesitation that you are totally wrong.

Yes, nice reference.

I’ve met some pretty bizarre lawyers … guys/gals that were good at memory skills and passing tests, but for all intents and purposes, dim bulbs in the real world. They excel at tax law and contract law. Who cares if he’s an attorney? He is annoying, though, isn’t he?

You got the right attitude. It’s a so what type thing.

The problem (other than the general problem of it being dickish to make things up) is if you talk about legal matters while representing yourself as an attorney you may be taken more seriously than you should be. It is unlikely in that thread that he would have been listened to but it’s possible in another thread with fewer replies and none (apart from his) purporting to be from attorneys then real life damage could result.

But didn’t you hear? “It’s a so what type thing.” Not being a lawyer, I can only assume that’s lawyer-talk for “I’m talking out of my ass.”

Hell with his legal qualifications; he needs pitting because of his intellectual failings. Re-defining words, making claims then contradicting them, telling other people what they really believe (despite their firm denial) and so on.

If he is a lawyer, he’s likely a really goddamn BAD one. I wouldn’t take him a contract on the division of a candy bar.

Now, let’s say you and I go toe-to-toe on bird law and see who comes out the victor?

Under the law, it’s the doctrine of Qualis Rei. I wouldn’t expect you non lawyers to know about it, though.

Yeah, maybe we need a “sticky” that reads: “Advice from anonymous internet attorneys should be checked by real attorneys before you risk your freedom, life savings, or pet custody based on said advice.”

Someone has to be the worst lawyer on earth. Why not pchaos?

For the record, pchaos, every lawyer I have ever seen on this board has been very, very circumspect with his/her legal advice because on a message board you don’t get all of the facts, you are speculating, and because laws vary between states and they may not know all the relevant laws. Not only did you disregard that and give some really moronic advice, you did it for someone who doesn’t even live in the same country you do, so there is no chance at all you know the laws. Even worse, Canada is an English-speaking country, and whatever language you post in, it’s not English. I can believe you might be a lawyer, but I cannot believe you are remotely competent.

And yes, all of this is secondary to your inability to construct an argument or follow simple logic or express your opinions or consider possibilities outside your own very narrow set of assumptions and experience. Lawyers are supposed to be very good at all of those things, and you’re not. That and your flat-out awful “advice” in that thread make it hard for people to believe you could be a lawyer. Worse, lately more and more of your posts seem disingenuous, self-contradictory, or totally off-topic. I assume you’re frustrated because nobody takes your opinions seriously, but the problem is they don’t deserve to be taken seriously. They’re totally uninformed and you’ve shown little interest in educating yourself and little ability to learn on the occasions you have tried to. You spend all your time telling everybody else what they think when you have no idea where they are coming from, and when you stop yourself long enough to ask people about their opinions, you don’t listen to the answer. It’s sort of a perfect storm of dumb.

It’s in the registration agreement.

Maybe we need **Bricker **to quiz him on Mopery and Dopery?

Sweet weeping Jesus. This fool has made 502 posts in 2 months?

This is the kind of problem that peer pressure can solve. He was called on his bullshit post-haste. The only way to fairly combat this on a *procedural *basis would be requiring self-professed lawyers to prove it to the mods before dispensing basic legal advice. And that would be a really fucking stupid rule.

He got Pitted once before. The thread went really well.
