Show of hands - who is not on Facebook?

I’ve just never been interested.

Don’t belong to any groups where FB is the preferred means of communication. I’ve thought it might become more appealing as my family becomes more farflung, but e-mail has so far served my needs just fine. Also, I ridiculously cling to the fiction that there is such a thing as privacy, and my job is such that it is probably a good idea not to go out of my way to be more readily identifiable and accessible.

Any other asocial luddites out there? BTW - I’m 52 and male.

57, male. My status is “Not on Facebook”.

I waste enough time on the Internet as it is.

Regards,
Shodan

I’m 59, and I’m not on Facebook. Madame Pepperwinkle is, though, and she handles most of our social communications that way. Well, and the phone. I am on Linkedin, though.

I’m 44 and I have a page, but I have not logged in in more than 2 years and have only logged in a total of 3 times.

I’m not even on Classmates as a paying type. I do check in on the freebies from time to time, but Facebook has never appealed to me. I do all my keeping up in email.

71 for age.

51 y.o. Male. No Facebook in my life. I have no animosity about it, just not interested. I’m sure it’s very nice.

I am 42 and avoid “social media” like the plague of self-absorption that it is.

If anyone wants to know my “status,” they’d better care about me personally enough to call me and ask me.

Forty-two year old female here. It doesn’t look fun or useful to me, and I don’t want people looking me up. My husband has an account which he uses to look at the kids’ pages once in a while.

46, female. No Facebook. I still hope it’s a fad, along with Twitter.

My employer started giving building updates during inclement weather via Twitter. I would rather drive to work, find out the building is closed, and drive back home than sign up for Twitter. If the weather is bad enough to close my building, I probably won’t make it out of my driveway, so my principled stand is kinda a moot point…

50s male… hell no.

50s, male. No.

I actually had an account years ago, but never used it. No interest. I guess I typically am still on it, but I have exactly one friend and I have nothing posted on it and never log on.

34, male, no.

There are plenty of ways to keep up with my friends, such as twitter, AIM and e-mail. I’ve never been a fan of social networking sites, they paint a distorted picture of reality. Also, what Shodan said.

::raises hand::

37, female. Never had any interest in it.

Shakes “likes” this thread.

All right! Let’s double down here to winnow out the poseurs. I don’t think I have ever checked Twitter. Not sure I would know how. When folk talk about “hashtags” that’s a Twitter thing, right?

Let’s brainstorm here - there has to be some third HUGE social media thing for us losers to hit a trifecta!

31, female.

I used to be on it, but everyone is just so annoying on there and I got sick of it. So I deactivated my page thinking I’d probably reactivate it one day. And I still might eventually, but it’s been about two years and I haven’t wanted to.

52 yo male. I created an account to see what it was all about a couple of years ago. Have not been back since.

Wife is 52, she’s not on it.

Best friend, female 51, she’s not on it either.

I am not on facebook (IANOF)

I vote for SDMB. That’s as close as I get to being “social” on a computer.

Pinterest. No interest.
