Epic facebook meltdown from Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares

Buzzfeed link

Head over to the actual Facebook page to see it in all it's glory!

ETA Kitchen Nightmares, not Hells Kitchen.

I just watched the episode online. The restaurant is totally insane. People wait over an hour for food, and it still comes out undercooked. Then, when they complain, the owner screams obscenities at them and throws them out. They steal from their employees and lie to their customers. I've never seen a bigger train wreck. Ramsey eventually just throws up his hands and walks away.

Well, just keep mentioning God and I'm sure you'll still have at least *some* customers...

OMG! I am not surprised about that whole thing. That episode was one of the most jawdroppingly WTF episodes of reality tv that I have ever seen. That couple is beyond batshit crazy--Elephantshit crazy? Whaleshitcrazy? The Borgshitcrazy?

Also, that woman has the crazy eyes. The ones where your brain goes "Back away slowly and don't make any gestures"

I watched that episode this weekend and it was amazing. Amy is so far gone she can't be fixed. Of course it doesn't help that her husband lies to her about why no one likes her food.

Eventually they'll run out of money and the place will close and Amy will still believe it had nothing to do with her or her food.

That facebook page is hilarious. Because of that and the Reddit thing they are getting some press about the meltdown and not the restuarant itself. If they were already hurting for money then this is just going to make things worse.

And don't forget, they're going to sue yelp and Reddit and all those posters! But hey, Samy is a gangster!

Ok, I've read more of the facebook page and a couple of articles about the meltdown including enalzis' link from 2010. Amy is batshit crazy. I'm surprised they've stayed open this long.

On yelp, Samy n' Amy posted a picture of a cupcake they claim is theirs.

Google image's reverse search, though, seems to think the cupcake is from The Cupcake Cafe in Manhattan.

My family has been having fun with this episode all weekend, and we feel the same way. Could explain their reluctance to let the staff use the PoS terminal too.

I don't-the mob would never have let Ramsey within 100 miles of the place, and they would have been told to shut up and let it all die down.

Might want to label this NSFW. If you scroll almost to the end of all the photos, there's some penis action going on there, so be forewarned.

Well, damn, I'm definitely clicking the link now!

So, I just watched the episode, and Amy's face was bothering me. Like, more than she's just weird looking and trowels on the eyeliner. Then I realized, she looks like one of the "pretty" Simpsons characters. For instance, Simpsons Lady Gaga.

Apparently so. When I first opened it, there was like 56 pictures. I think there's 10 less now. Sorry if that made it a false alarm.

She's got cheap nosejob nose. I've seen it all too often in southern CA.

I just watched the episode and. . . holy shit. That woman was a special kind of crazed.

I was thinking, while I was watching the show, that maybe this wasn't intended to be the finale when they shot it. But after wards the producers talked amongst themselves saying, "Holy Shit! We have to save one for the finale. Nothing can top that."

It is. From what I can tell, people have tracked down the original source of almost every image on their Facebook page.

Oh, and she admitted that the baked goods at Amy's Baking Company are purchased from stores and re-sold at her restaurant. That's right, they don't even do their own baking there. When asked why they told Ramsey that the cake he enjoyed was baked in-house, she said that he was British and he wouldn't understand.

The newest post on Facebook claims that their page has been hacked (I suppose it's possible), but never fear. They are "working with the local authorities as well as the FBI computer crimes unit to ensure this does not happen again."

Almost all the restaurants featured on Ramsay's show close within a year, though, even the ones that look like they've been fixed.

Well, two things;

1> It's Arizona.
2. They keep mentioning God.

So you just know they'd be able to keep up some client base no matter what they do.

That two-part video actually gave me physical pain. When the one customer complained about waiting over an hour for a pizza, then overheard Amy in the kitchen making fun of him, then Samy told him to pay for his drinks and get the fuck out and threatened to call the police and pushed him? Then Amy called him a pansy as they were walking away? Oh my effin God.

Ho-lee shit, that was some fucked up tv.

What I don't get is how someone can say "I am gifted in all culinary areas." and then serve frozen and pre-made junk. Sure, I'm gifted in all culinary areas too, if by gifted you mean can tear shrinkwrap off stuff.

I would have liked to see her do a few Hell's Kitchen style challenges for everyone to observe.

I was doing a Google search for this restaurant as I was watching that episode. I was surprised that they still have the "Sweet & Spicy Pasta Rustica" on the menu that Ramsay hated so much. Most places change their menus after appearing on Kitchen Nightmares but this one doesn't seem to have. And many of the restaurants even mention their television appearance on their websites. These guys don't.

By the way, the coverage from the Phoenix New Times of the restaurant's appearance on the show is interesting. This article from before the episode was filmed says that the people dining when Ramsay was there aren't just random customers, but people who sent in emails volunteering to eat there that night. And the people who waited over an hour for their pizza and were then told to get the fuck out? The owners still demanded that the customers pay for the drinks they did get, although the TV producers offered to cover the tab.

I know that, but I never saw one with owners as batshit whacko as those two! I'd've thought they closed their doors long before the episode aired.

I just streamed the episode from the local network that carries it. Phew! Both Samy and Amy are crazy, but Amy is a special kind of crazy. She makes the Gordon Ramsay of "Hell's Kitchen" look like a nice boss.

It seems obvious to me that Samy has (or had) tons of money to sink into a losing proposition for some period of time. He probably just hasn't run out yet.

Amazingly, even with as god awful as that show was, they were promoting the hell out of it on their facebook page. Of course, now that we know it was hacked, I'm sure it wasn't them.

Holy crap, "special kind of crazy" doesn't even begin to cover it.
I just watched it from the Buzzfeed link, and ...well, there are no words. Amy is in deep, deep denial about what's really wrong with her restaurant, and her husband doesn't help by not telling her when customers send food back.
She refused to believe that they'd been through 50 servers in a year, yet Samy confirmed it was more like 100. Keeping her out of the loop is just so wrong.

I felt so bad for Katie, the girl who got fired. I couldn't figure out why she was crying, but maybe it was relief. That place had to be a giant hellhole of stress.

Did Samy ever give a reason why the waitresses, or rather, food runners couldn't use the POS system? Was it distrust or what?

Amy says her culinary talents are a gift from God. So, in what passes for her mind, if you criticize her cooking, you're criticizing God.

Is someone starting a pool on when the restaurant closes?

The scariest one is probably true. It's a prediction that as a result of all this publicity, these two lunatics will end up their own reality series. They're failing upward.

I had suspicions while watching but thanks for confirming (albeit without a cite). I thought Ramsay's suggestion was to just dump the entire kitchen and keep the bakery. Ramsay missed out on a big "a-ha" moment for the show in not revealing that. I'm sure he had his suspicions too between not seeing any baking supplies, seeing the "meager" kitchen=, and not seeing her actually make the one piece of acceptable food.

It seemed from the beginning that Amy's plan was to get Ramsay in there to say their food was really good and vindicate them.

I admit I don't watch the shows he's on, but I am familiar with the internet, and all the animated gifs of Ramsay make me think this was... not a wise plan. That said, this episode made him look like a saint, which (again, as far as I gather) is not typical.

That takes a special kind of crazy if my understanding is right.

Yeah, it was pretty clear that she was jonesing hardcore for some validation from Ramsay to throw in the face of Yelpers.

I don't even think that restaurant would have been killer to turn around. Strip every meal of half its ingredients, slash prices by 25% and for god's sake let the servers at the POS and drinks so they can do their fricking job. Oh, and fire Amy and get someone who doesn't take 40 minutes to unwrap a pizza and throw it in the oven.

No she was lucky.

In a way I can understand her. I had a business. It didn't make it. It is a nightmare. A nightmare in slow motion. You can watch your dream die over the course of a few years and it does put a strain on you.

Of course, how did Ramsey get into this place? Don't they have to ask for his help?

If I had been present in this restaurant on the evening they filmed the part appearing at the beginning of the show, I would have been fully convinced it was a candid camera thing. I would never have believed all that crap could happen in real life (three different customers thrown out in a row, IIRC).

The whole show was comedy gold. Too bad I don't understand everything said (I'm not good at understanding spoken English).
