How do you fall about US House Republicans right now?

Just in case you’ve been on vacation: House GOP lauches shutdown battle by voting defund Obamacare.

I meant for this to be a poll. And I meant “feel” not “fall”. Damn. Damn. DAMN!!!)

I think the whole party ought to be (to use an electoral metaphor) shipped off to Whig Island.

However, I am not getting excited about this one. They said it is time to put up or shut up. So far they haven’t put up a government shutdown, but merely talked a bunch of meaningless bullshit and passed a doomed, radically partisan budget proposal. Wake me up when the government shuts down- I am not going to get agitated over this looming 11th hour compromise.

What were the poll options going to be?

I want them voted out of office.

Criminally incompetent, traitorous lunatics.

I think it is posturing in bad taste if not bad faith. However, if they really go beyond posturing and try to shut down the government then they should be tarred, feathered and run out of town on a rail.

ACA is the law of the land. Don’t like, put something better on the table and let’s have that debate. Don’t act like a 3 year old

I will make a distinction here - there may still be one or two sane Republicans left in the house.

But yes, I would not oppose a move to convict most of them of Treason.

They are going to get the Constitution amended to strip Congressional Immunity (OK, maybe it doesn’t need to be an Amendment).

Anyone who takes pride in trying to wreck the country because they lost an election needs to be shot. With their own guns, and the estate billed for the cost of the execution.

Let’s not forget how much theOld Confederacy dominates the national GOP picture. Those guys always did have a problem with the feds, and it has never ended well so far…

+1

Borders on treason, IMHO. This is what occurs when you vote in a bunch of anti-government ideologues to highest positions in government (Thank you, Indiana). I sincerely hope Democrats allow the government shutdown to occur, so the Republican party can shoot themselves in the head. This event is, in my opinion, the death knell for the Republican Party. To think that a second-term President will undo or delay a signature piece of legislature is just a fantasy, the Republicans are overplaying their hand, and it’ll undoubtedly backfire.

  • Honesty

I really can’t express my feeling towards the House GOP on a public message board.

This essentially.

I would. Treason is very specifically defined in the Constitution, and what they are doing does not meet that requirement. I would love to see some other crime they could be charged with, though, and that failing I would love to see them voted out of office as soon as possible and replaced with sane people.

Oh I can, I agree with others that have pointed out that the ACA is funded in such a way that even a government shutdown will not stop it. As others pointed out it will be like taking a swing at the ACA and the Republican bozos will hit the Economy, the Department of Defense, Homeland Security, etc. instead.

They **are **really that deluded and it is time for all Americans to tell them how wrong they are. So if you have a Republican representative send them a note or call and tell them to stop being the obstructionist party.

The Republican Party is in a death spiral, and what we are seeing are the final paroxysms before self destruction. It could get bumpy before it gets better, but I figure it will be all over after the 2014 election.

and now, +2.

Stupid selfish overly-entitled bastards. The whole lot of 'em.

I was in the military in 1995 when Congress couldn’t pass a balanced budget. We didn’t get paid for about 5 weeks. It was rough. This seems to be a repeat of that same situation.

I agree with the general opinion that it is a stupid and childish thing to do.

What I’d like to see is whatever law/policy/whatever that grants healthcare for Congress be repealed/overturned/whatever it takes and make them subject to the same laws that all other Americans are. Let’s see how their opinion changes then.

If they don’t like Obamacare, let’s try to fix it. Not do something stupid like this. Oh, and before I forget, what have they proposed to replace it with? I haven’t seen any suggestions from anywhere else.

The are stupid, extreme, and cowards too. Why is ACA worth shutting the government down for? Because they know it will work and be popular, just like the other stuff they hate like Medicare and Social Security. They hate the thought that some of the people they despise might get a break.
It is getting to be immoral to be a Republican - unless you fight back, not cave in like Boner did.

In a way, thank goodness. Imagine how much damage they might cause if they were competent.

they’ve tried to put something on the table but it’s been refused. It can’t be fully implemented without increasing debt and it’s current link to businesses has caused a large number of people to lose full time employment.

Bad faith is letting a poorly designed bill to go forward.

Let’s see, this is - what - the 42nd or 43rd time they have tried to kill Obamacare?

Seriously dudes - give it a fucking rest already. Let it go through and use it in the upcoming election if you are so damned sure it is going to be a disaster? Any normal opposing party would be thrilled to see a horrible piece of legislature go into effect so they could use this as their grand weapon in the next election!

Or, perhaps they are more afraid people might actually LIKE having health insurance?

Bunch of pouting, pissy brats having yet another temper tantrum. It would be different if they had even an iota of a chance of getting it repealed, but they don’t.

I mean, seriously - are there any Republican voters out there who are proud of their representatives continually harping on, and uselessly voting against a done deal that will not change?

I will be interested in seeing what happens in three years - when suddenly that Obamacare is well liked and rather popular - will be interesting to see how many of those Republicans will rationalize their futile efforts against it.
