My monitor is kaputt

I was playing Driver: San Francisco on my computer. I was on a bad mood. A terrible one, actually. All of a sudden the power went out. I did what any normal, sane human being would do: Punched my monitor out of its tiny feet. That worked.
Now my monitor is occasionally turning off. The screen turns black for a few seconds and lights up again. It looks like it is restarting, but the LG logo does not show up. The blue power light does, however.
Is there a way to fix it ? It is a Flatron E2360. Should I take anger management classes?

Yes, you should take anger management classes.

Find someone who works on computer equipment. It may be a loose ground wire or faulty power supply (or related electronics). Depending on how old it is it may be cheaper to just buy another one.

It sounds like you’ve damaged one of the internal electrical connections or possibly a component or two with your overzealous percussive maintenance. If you are really handy with electronics you might be able to fix it, but for a typical user it’s not easily repairable.

And anger management classes would probably be a good thing.

you could take anger management or improve your punch. either might prevent a troublesome intermittent problem.

finding and fixing the problem would demand a time consuming skillful repair if you were lucky.

$130 gets you the excellent ASUS VS228H-P 22-Inch from Amazon.

Have you tried hitting it harder, again and again? That worked for my old wireless mouse, surprisingly! Then eventually it broke entirely when my boyfriend REALLY went to town on it and was banging it like bongo drum against the wood floor.

I have an old Dell 20" monitor that has an intermittent power problem at times. I use it as a second monitor and keep gmail up on it as I do my thing on another unit.

Sometimes the Dell will just power off, screen goes black, power light goes off, then back on. The Dell logo loads up and then the picture pops back on as if nothing happened. Sometimes it won’t do this for months at a time, but lately it does it several times every evening, sometimes restarting twice in succession.

I think it is a heat problem. It does it more often as the summer temps go up and the house is warmer. It doesn’t do it winter when the house is colder.

I have restrained myself from physically abusing the monitor, but it has occasionally been on the receiving end of vicious verbal abuse and death threats. It hasn’t helped.

I think a new monitor is in my future and the old Dell will be retired to the recycle bin where it never need be fired up again.

Could be just overheating. Spray through the vents with canned air. If that is the case though, its days are numbered.
