Fuck.
Oh Canada.
I wonder if it’s connected to the attack on the two Soldiers on Monday?
That was my thought as well.
Inspired by, possibly.
Though Denis Lortie was just nuts. This guy may be, too.
Eh?
Not a good time, rc.
Apparently there are unconfirmed reports of more than one gunman, with two on the roof.
Lots of gunshots in the above short clip. Sounds like one very loud shot, and then a volley of returning fire?
And here’s a twitter list collating tweets from journos at the scene
CBC radio reports one shooter dead, others suspected at large.
Apparently a hotel was fired at as well as the Parliament building.
Holy shit. Just read this on CNN and came here to post the link, but looks like there is already a thread on this. I used to live in Ottawa and have been the the Parliament building there a few times.
At least it looks like Harper is ok.
Holy crap.

Looks like Canada might get itself a Guy Fawkes night two weeks earlier than the Limeys.
Police roadblocks on all the bridges over to Quebec. Large part of downtown Ottawa is in lockdown, as is our building in the Portage government complex, just across the river.
Crazy!
After our own little lockdown in June, here’s hoping things are resolved and the lockdown lifted quickly. Being locked down at home sucked, I can’t imaging being in lockdown at work.
Rumour has it that the sergeant-at-arms for the House of Commons personally shot an assailant - pretty sure that’s a first.
He’ll make lieutenant for that.
Get the feeling that we won’t be allowed to build snowmen on the parliament lawn this Christmas.
