I have an essay where I am required to discuss the political, social and economic situation of Europe within the 1920/30s. When examining the social situation of a country what is one looking for ?
How people lived, day to day. Maybe stuff like race relations, class relations, and rights and role expectations of men as compared to women.
I am not going to say any more, however. It is against this site’s policies to provide homework help. You need to research the details yourself.

I suggest a good start would be a search for "the political, social and economic situation of Europe within the 1920/30s"
I would hope that whatever course or class it is for which you’re writing this essay also taught you the methodology of how to approach it. So just go and do what you’ve learnt there.

Welcome to the SDMB, kettleoil
Please note that we have a “no homework” rule here. You can ask for help if you are stuck, but don’t ask us to do the bulk of your work for you. This seems to be asking more for the answer than looking for help when stuck.

There was an objection to the closing of this thread, and upon further reflection it seems that the exact intent of the OP isn’t clear.
I think we need a little more input from kettleoil about the exact nature of this essay. And also, let’s all keep in mind that the intent of the homework rule here is to help people figure out the answer on their own, not to just give them the answer. We’re here to help, not do their work for them. As long as everyone follows that rule, this can stay open.
Thread re-opened.
I teach history for a living, to university students, and i would have no problem with one of my students asking this sort of question on a message board, although i would prefer that they come and ask me first, because this is also precisely the sort of thing that i would be happy to help them with.
The comment by njtt provides a good start in terms of things to consider when discussing social conditions. One thing that i try to emphasize to my own students is that social, economic and political issues can never be fully separated from one another. Social conditions rely on, and in turn shape, economic and political developments. So, for example, if you’re thinking about a country like Germany, maybe consider how the economic situation of the early 1920s affected the living conditions of everyday Germans, and the consequences this had for German politics.
It would be interesting to know whether the OP is supposed to base this essay on a specific list of sources already provided by the instructor, or whether this is some sort of research project that requires finding your own source materials. I’d also be interested to know how long the essay is supposed to be, as this will guide how deep the student needs to go into specifics. If it’s a three-page paper, you’re not going to be able to do much beyond a broad outline; if it’s a 12-page paper, you can get into much more detail.
