Donald Trump finds out where the GOP draws the line & it's at Megyn Kelly's bloody vagina

I did not know where that line was going to be drawn, but apparently attacking a Fox News Anchor is goring one ox too many.

Donald Trump banned from RedState over menstruation jibe at Megyn Kelly

What a gross and odd thing to say, really makes you wonder what else he will say if elected president.

“President Trump Under Fire Regarding Remarks About Brazilian President Rousseff’s Sex Life”.

“Trump Insults Chinese President Xinping’s Penis Size After Trade Talks Falter”

“President Donald Trump Calls Iran’s Supreme Leader A Goat F$2ker”.

Trump has issued a clarification. He says he was referring to Kelly’s angry attitude: blood was coming out of her eyes, ears and nose. Haters will say that he was clearly alluding to PMS, but Trump maintains that only deviants and sick people take such an interpretation. USA TODAY - Breaking News and Latest News Today

In fact Trump is a big supporter of women’s issues, according to Trump: “When you’re negative on women’s health, you can forget about it,” he said. “I’m the exact opposite. I cherish women. I want to help women. I’m going to be able to do things for women that no other candidate would be able to do, and it’s very important to me.” From WAPO: http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2015/08/09/donald-trump-i-cherish-women/

Amusing blather aside, Megyn Kelly did take one quote of Trump’s unfairly out of context.
Kelly: Your Twitter account has several disparaging comments about women’s looks. You once told a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice it would be a pretty picture to see her on her knees. Does that sound to you like the temperament of a man we should elect as president…
Wow, that sounds pretty bad. Except it happened when a contestant described Kelly as getting on her knees and imploring this third party (not Trump) to… ah whatever. Here’s the stupid clip. Anyway, Trump was clarifying, “Excuse me, you dropped on your knees?”

“Yes…”

“Well that must have been a pretty picture you dropping to your knees…”

Yeah, it was racy. Even a little skeavy. But the playboy model in question doesn’t even remember the line. And it’s not like Trump was encouraging her to get on her knees even in jest: he was commenting on something she had done. The tone was “Why would you do that?”, though of course there were double entendres involved. I’m sure the producers loved it, but it was show biz, not sexual harassment in my view.

Is Trump offensive? I think so (see OP). But this was a misleading example by Kelly.

The issue was not that Trump attacked a Fox News anchor. The issue was that he attacked the debate moderator by claiming that she was hormonal merely because she asked him a tough but understandable question during the debate that he did not want to answer.

(I’m no fan of Fox news, and I’m no fan of Megyn Kelly. But I certainly don’t want someone with a skin this thin to be elected president.)

Not so sure. By the time I read the quote, I had already heard about the menstruation line, so my reaction was already colored. Still, looking at it, I’m not so sure that’s what it is. Not that I put it past him, the man is a lout, but why would such an asshole be even remotely circumspect? He might just as easily something like “on the rag”, so why did he say “or whatever”?

And since when do reptiles menstruate?

Interesting that while Kelly wasn’t the only panelist asking Trump tough questions, she was the only anchor singled out by him. It’s almost as if Trump has a problem with tough questioning by powerful women.

ETA: Assholes sometimes use innuendo.

I’m sure too, that he has a solution to all the women’s problems, but he won’t reveal it until he’s elected. Just like his ISIS solution. What’s happened to that, by the way?

IIRC, he called Chris Wallace a “faggit noob”.

I been reading people who suggest that Fox News attentive focus on Trump was calculated to “give him enough rope” with the intent to make Jeb! look better. What do you guys think?

Well, they gave Trump enough rope. But Jeb! is never gonna look any better.

Fox News was definitely carrying water for the RNC. No problem: ratings go up when you build Trump up, and ratings go up when you knock him down. Ezra Klein explains the moving parts. Summary and link here: http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=18586822&postcount=145

BTW: As of yesterday, Trump’s numbers were holding steady at 23%, according to an NBC online poll at surveymonkey. Donald Trump Still in the Lead After Debates: New NBC News/SurveyMonkey Poll

The methodology of that poll isn’t quite as bad as your typical online poll, though personally I’d tack on some extra error bars.

It’s possible, but I doubt it’s being done specifically to benefit Jeb, because Fox has no reason to feel threatened by any of the candidates. I doubt Fox News knew Trump was going to be big, but when he was, they rolled with it and let Trump be Trump. Giving Trump any amount of airtime amounts to giving him rope, frankly; he just can’t help himself and it’s probably pathological.

Fox gave Trump airtime because Trump is a Character, in every sense, and he gets ratings. First, it was the Underdog Schtick, now it’s the Bullying The Bully Routine, which not incidentally keeps giving Trump things to react to, and gives Trump fans more reasons to feel oppressed and put-upon, which is something the Right has thrived upon for a good, long while now.

Letting Trump spout off is good television. Making Trump angry and getting him to rant is better television. It’s as simple, as cynical, and as ultimately short-sighted as that.

Trump is the Ron Paul for the Television Generation. He’s got a sound-bite mentality and all the bravado of a professional wrestler. He just doesn’t seem to get that he’s the heel, Fox News is positioning their people to be the faces, and a screwjob is coming his way.

Great thread title. Is there some kind of prize for thread titles?

My bar trivia team has a new name.

Truly; that right there is a thread title/headline for the ages. I’m bookmarking this thread just so in the future I can find it again to show people it’s awesomeness.

Yes, I saw his tremendously respectful comment about Rosie O’Donnell as evidence of his esteem for women.

If I had to spend an hour with her, I would likely spend it trying to decide what was the most respectful and least sexist way to commit an ax murder.

Because?

Manners are important.
