Assemble a band made up of musicians who were born on your birthday

Once we have several entries we can vote on the best group.

For March 15, I have:
[ul]
[li]Bret Michaels (Poison) on lead vocals[/li][li]Terrence Trent D’Arby on vocals[/li][li]Lightnin’ Hopkins on vocals[/li][li]Ry Cooder on lead guitar[/li][li]Phil Lesh (Grateful Dead) on bass[/li][li]Sly Stone (Sly and the Family Stone) on organ and vocals[/li][li]Ralph MacDonald (Caribbean percussionist) on drums[/li][li]Mike Love (Beach Boys) on vocals and sax[/li][/ul]
mmm

This is the only one I’ve heard of for Feb 2nd listed on wiki.

1977 – Shakira, Colombian singer-songwriter, producer, and actress

There’s a couple saxaphonists from early 20th century and a few composers from the 18th/19th century.

Also, whoever this guy is

1983 – Alex Westaway, English singer-songwriter and guitarist (Fightstar)

February 10:

Roberta Flack on vocals
Vic Fuentes (from Pierce the Veil…never heard of him, or of them) on guitar/keyboards
Cliff Burton on bass guitar

I can’t find a drummer, so we’ll just use a drum machine.

Piano: Regina Spektor
Turntables: Dr. Dre
Vocals: Yoko Ono!

October 29, a REALLY BAD DAY for musician birthdays. The only first-rater is Zoot Sims, the great jazz saxophonist.

So I have a screwy little combo of

Fanny Brice on vocals
Zoot on alto and tenor saxes
Neal Hefti on trumpet (I didn’t even know Hefti PLAYED trumpet; I only know him as an arranger for Count Basie and a few other great jazz bands)
David Paton on guitar (he played with the Bay City Rollers, shoot me now.)

So I got a one-man rhythm section…no drums, no bass, no piano.

Joseph Goebbels can be the announcer, and sit onstage as my eye-candy.

October 9th.

John Lennon.
Jackson Browne.
Camille Saint-Saens.

I win.

September 23
Bruce Springsteen
John Coltrane
Ray Charles
Ani Difranco
Julio Iglesias
Not too shabby. I don’t know what kind of music they would come up with but it would probably be interesting.

There are a few people I’ve never heard of who are labeled as singers, but no one who plays an instrument.

However, I share my birthday with Richard Feynman, so according to SDMB geekdom, I win this and any other birthday thread.

Stevie Wonder and Mary Wells for singers.
Buckethead on guitar
Gil Evans on piano
Ritchie Valens on guitar

No drummers, apparently, but Stephen Colbert can introduce the act.

Not so fast. March 30th:

ERIC CLAPTON. Guitars, vocals
Tracy Chapman Guitars, vocals
Graeme Edge (drummer for the Moody Blues)
Lene Lovich (vocals, sax)
Norah Jones (she’s jazz, but I still want her in my band: vocals, keyboards or bass).

So Clapton and a bunch of amazingly talented women.

Well, it would be a mix of genres, but:

May 16

Robert Fripp, King Crimson, on guitar.
Krist Novoselic of Nirvana on bass.
Roger Earl of Foghat on drums.
And on lead vocals - Janet Jackson.

My wife does MUCH better. Here’s the Ukulele Lady’s band:

Doc Severinsen on trumpet
Hank Mobley on tenor sax
Anton Karas on zither (composer and performer of the “Third Man Theme”)
Mary Ford on guitar (collaborated with Les Paul)
Gustav Mahler on piano
Joe Zawinul on synthesizers
Ringo Starr on drums

Felicien Rops, the Belgian Symbolist artist and pornographer, can do their poster art.

Virginia Rappe, “starlet” allegedly raped to death by Fatty Arbuckle in 1921, as groupie.

We could have Paul Thompson on drums. “Our” band would also have Magic Dick on mouth organ, Danny Kirwan on guitar, and Dennis Rodman could be our road manager.

September 26

George Gershwin, piano
Marty Robbins, guitar, piano, dobro, and vocals
Al Pitrelli, guitar
Shannon Hoon, guitar
Shawn Stockman (Boyz II Men), vocals
Bryan Ferry, vocals
Olivia Newton-John, vocals
Christina Milian, vocals
Gal Costa, vocals

Plenty of vocalists, though a little light on instruments.

Mine would be more of a weird vocal act than a band, with Don Everly, Harry Styles, and Rick James.
I think the rest of my birthday bunch would make movies together: Clark Gable, Brandon Lee, Michael C. Hall, and Sherman Hemsley, all directed by John Ford. What a show that would be.

April 24:

Kelly Clarkson - vocals
Barbra Streisand - vocals
Captain Sensible (The Damned) - guitar
Jack Blades (Night Ranger) - guitar
David J (Bauhaus) - bass
Doug Clifford (CCR) - drums
Joe Henderson - saxophone

October 26

Keith Strickland - guitars
Keith Urban - guitars/vocals
Bootsy Collins - bass
Tommy Mars - keyboards
Natalie Merchant - vocals

Hmmm… I need a drummer. How about Sverre Gjørbad, from the Swedish jazz band “Dingobats”?

June 12th starts off promising…

John Wetton - bass
Chick Corea - piano
Brad Delp - vocals
(Do dead people count? If not, Wetton can be the singer as well)

But guitarists and drummers are light:

The only drummer I could find that I’ve heard of is Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick. I should say I know the band’s radio hits, I had no idea what their drummer’s name is.

The only guitarist I’ve heard of is Kenny Wayne Shepherd. I’m familiar with the name, but not his music.

I’ve got Yo-Yo Ma and John Cougar. What a duet they would make.

Freddie Mercury, vocalist, together with Dweezil Zappa on guitar and Jared Warth on bass, are The September 5 Band.

Through the wonders of technology, I’m actually able to share with you a mock up of my superband’s collaboration: The September 5 Band perform John Cage’s most renowned composition, 4’33.. Watch out for a special appearance by rapper Sway.

So go on. Top 4 minutes and 33 seconds of Freddie Mercury not singing. :::micdrop:::
