Other than hate crimes against Muslims or Sikhs in other places, on the local news, I don’t think there has been one murder, assault, arson, or any other major violent crime reported - at least in my area. There have been reports of fraud by ****wads who want to take advantage of the current situation, but other than that no crime. I have even looked over the newspapers to see if crime news buried in the back page of the local sectionm but no.
Is this just my imagination, or is the current feeling of goodwill shared by most people having this effect?
Offhand, there’s been a double homicide here in Topeka (just a run of the mill murder, not a hate crime – a shooting at a party if I remember correctly), and I remember that a Texas inmate had escaped a maximum security facility.
Unfortunately I don’t think bad people have taken a break. Perhaps you don’t hear about it because all news has been dominated by the WTC coverage?

I know the scanners in Vancouver were really quiet in the middle of last week.
I hear last Thursday that violent crime was down 50% nationwide. Apparently 9/11/01 events were enough of a distraction to take the minds of some low-lives off mayhem.
On the other hand, we are seeing a rash of scum stealing American flags and re-selling them at flea markets and street corners, false charities, and some minor looting at a crime site in lower Manhattan.
