2010 MLB Home Run Pool

Week 2- Evan Longoria

Come on young O’s pitchers…

week 2= Jason Kubel

Standings after week 1:

Incensed | 29|M. Cuddyer 29|

In total, our picks have hit 6 HR in 155 AB (3.87 HR/100 AB)

Nelson Cruz turned out to be a fantastic pick for Hawkeyeop - more homers than the rest of us combined!

Week 2 - Jason Bay, NYM

Week 2: Carlos Peña, Tampa Bay

Well it looks like Ambihelical Hexnut is coming to the front, with Hawkeyeop holding on to the top spot. My only consolation is that Hawkeye’s already burned Nelson Cruz aka the Hydrogen Bomb of HR streaks.

I finally got the skunk out 13 days in, so with eyes toward a rally I’m taking-

Week 3-Miguel Cabrera, Tigers

After a couple of weeks, we’ve got a pretty good idea of the shape of things-anybody else want to put an over/under number on our winner’s total?

I’ll throw out the Maris number-61.

BTW-Great coding OP, and thanks for putting this together.

My pick for week 3 is Dan Uggla (FLA)

week 3, Jason Heyward.

I will go Cabrera as well.

Week 3: Chase Utley

Kid’s on a roll. I’ll go with it.

Standings after week 2:

wolfman | 1 51|J. Kubel 1 23| |
Munch | 31|P. Fielder 23|Dn 3|

In total, our picks have hit 18 HR in 316 AB (5.70 HR/100 AB)
Last week, our picks hit 12 HR in 161 AB (7.45 HR/100 AB)

Things have picked up a bit after a rather slow first week. Only Munch is yet to get on the board, and some daylight has emerged between the top 3 and the rest.

5 homers for Chase Utley have catapulted me up from fifth to second place. The bottom half of the leaderboard remains extremely tight; and it may only take one more homer for Chase Utley to move Munch up from last place into fourth.

Week 3 - Albert Pujols, StL

No homers in his last 24 at-bats, he’s too consistent to keep that up.

Nice contrast in strategies.

Why I oughtta…how am I supposed to climb back in this thing?

Week 4-Mark Reynolds, D-backs

Ooh Ari gets to play in Colorado. I’ll take Mark… eh how bout Justin Upton.

My pick for week 4 is Derrek Lee (CHC)

Matt Kemp

OK, doing shitty. Gonna go with the bug guy
Week 4: poo holes

So how long can I continue to pick power hitters and not get any HRs? I’ll admit - Fielder was a bad choice two weeks ago, he traditionally is a terribly slow starter. Aaron Hill was questionable, but he was raking in Spring Training, and I wanted to ride the hot hand.

If I don’t get a dinger by the All-Star break, I’m going to start picking catchers and shortstops, just to see if I can catch lightning in a bottle.

So obviously, I missed Week Three. Oh, well. Back for Week Four.

I’ll take Nelson Cruz, OF, Tex
