Can Tin foil hats can do some effect to defending your brain?

They have to be connected to a copper rod sunk 36" into the ground to be effective.

I think code calls for two 96" brass rods sunk 6 feet apart connected by an eight gauge ground wire. Tin foil hats don’t work unless they’re grounded properly.

Something I’ve always kind of wondered is why we call it tin foil. I don’t think I’ve ever seen actual tin foil sold anywhere, just aluminum foil. I guess we all used to use tin foil and the name stuck after we switched to aluminum. Fewer syllables and easier to type.

It stems from the pre WW2 area, when they used actual tin, after WW2 tin got replaced by the cheaper and more durable aluminum foil, but the name stuck. Cite for tin foil Cite for Aluminum foil

In the digital forensics world, if you’re collecting a mobile phone and you want to block signals to it without powering it off, you would use a Faraday bag. If one isn’t handy, then wrapping the phone in aluminum foil will do in a pinch.

Yup, that’s basically what modern insulated houses are (at least here in Ireland), they are nice’n’cosy, easy/cheap to heat and no drafts, but a bitch to get any mobile signal inside, except at the windows.

Aluminum is an extremely good conductor of heat, so it might make your head cold. PC heatsinks are made of aluminum because it dissipates heat very well.

Yes, it protects from the actual microwaves, but the side effect is that it would set your head on fire! Or, as we said in the Navy, it will turn you into a Screaming Alpha!

If you shone a very bright visible light on a straw hat, it would catch fire. But that doesn’t mean a straw hat is not useful for blocking visible light.
