When I first went to visit my now ex-husband’s family in South Carolina, he introduced me to some people he went to school with. The girl’s name was Peaches and her brother’s name was Kareem. I thought they were joking (we were all a little tipsy at the time), but I heard other people calling them by name.
I think this is an awfully big generalization to make about a name or nickname, and frankly strikes me as an attempt at justifying whatever sort of unwanted sexual attention a woman with a “sexy” name might receive.
As far as “Peaches” goes, we’re not in universal agreement here that it sounds like a “stripper name” and there are plenty of non-sexual reasons a woman might end up with that nickname: her parents thought she looked like a little peach when she was born, she’s from Georgia, her husband’s name is Herb, she really likes peaches, etc.
There’s a stripper named Peaches who works at a club here in Washington DC.
Maybe we should ask her if it’s a stripper name.
On MST3K, they riffed a movie called Racket Girls. It was about women wrestlers, and the “main character” (She didn’t actually have a whole lot of screen time, as I remember) was named Peaches something.
When I think of the name Peaches, it certainly isn’t for a stripper. I knew a Peaches in high school. He was a really big black and talented male basketball player. He was almost as good as his twin, Pumpkin. I kid you not.
Since I’m the OP I should perhaps ad this lady who is called “Peaches” was an African-American woman, probably in her early 50s (maybe late 40s).
Since I live in Chicago many of the African Americans have roots in Mississippi or Alabama and their families migrated up to Chicago during the Great Depression of the 30s.
I’ve known a lot of black people but none with the nickname of Peaches, but maybe it’s more of a common nickname in the South. After all isn’t Georgia the “Peach State”
noffensive-sounding, cutesy names*, California-girl names** and sweet fruit names*** sound like stripper names.

I’m from Texas, and “peach” is a common term for the female genitalia (it fits, imo…fuzzy, the labia resembling cling or fresh peach slices, sweet, slick, etc…) My 70-plus yr old Mother-in law uses it all the time to reference that part of the female anatomy (“cover up your peach”, “Owe, I hurt my peach!”) So I think “Peaches” would be a perfect stripper name…or just “Peach”. Maybe just a southern thang, but yeah. JMHO.
Wanted to add…missed the edit, the form of the fresh, whole fruit, with that split down the middle…yep…a peach is as good an analogy for a pussy as I’ve seen.
“Peaches” ought to right up there with Chesty Morgan and Blaze Starr. Good luck with googling those two busty beauties
I would have never thought of Peaches as a stripper name.
One of my father’s first cousins was called Peaches and she was so not a stripper. To me it seems like a term of endearment.
I envision a fat, grumpy looking tabby cat when I hear the name Peaches.
My immediate mental image of a woman named Peaches is a 1920s gangster moll – you know, the blonde girl perched on the knee of the man with the pinstriped suit and the tommy-gun.
