Getting back to the OP, is it clear that Carrera is a “liberal who is living in a red state”? She’s written that she moved to Utah intentionally because she likes the values of the area. She may be a conservative who happens to have worked in porn.
As for Beck, Coulter, or Limbaugh - none of them could handle this board. They only thrive in a situation where they have control of who gets to talk. After a week or two of finding out they can’t close the thread everytime somebody calls them on their bullshit, they’d run away for more sycophanic forums.
For UK politicians, I’d like to see William Hague and Anthony Wedgwood Benn. Both are immensely intelligent and engaging.

Actually, I remember remarking in an earlier thread that Ellen Muth (actress on Dead Like Me and Mensa member) sounded like a good candidate for SDMB membership. Olivia Munn would also connect one way or another with a lot of Dopers, as she’s a G4 personality, Comic-Con attendee, former sports sideline reporter, one-time resident of Japan, aspiring author, and recent Playboy cover girl.

My first thought was Stephen Hawking. And more scientists in general: I think it’s very cool that I can read a Colibri post about evolution. Stephen Jay Gould would have been a great Doper, for example. Of course maybe we already have some people like that here and I just don’t understand what they are posting about.
