Is medicare part D compliant with prescription discounts

Out of curiosity is the new medicare plan D compliant with things like prescription discount cards, corporate discounts on pharmaceuticals to poor people (some companies offer drugs cheaply to poor people) or overseas (or domestic) internet pharmacies? Or does a person need to go to a local retailer and pay full price for plan D to count?

As an example, assume you have a prescription discount card that saves you 30% on all your prescriptions. Would that work with medicare part D or do you need to pay full retail prices to get plan D?

Only drugs purchased within the United States are covered under part D. Drugs have to be purchased from a participating pharmacy or mail order source. Drugs from outside the US or a non-plan source won’t be covered and any costs associated with them won’t apply to any deductible or out of pocket cost limits.

I don’t know about the discount cards. I’ll try to find out at work tomorrow but don’t hold your breath.
