Identify this version of "White Christmas" please?

Yes, it’s “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas”, but who sings it? It’s moderately up-tempo, features male or maybe co-ed vocals in the back of each verse singing (approximately) “Shoap dope, shoap-di-dope-di-dope”. If I were going to teleport myself to where this song originated, I would expect sequins, velvet, and martinis. The clothing this version wears is flashy lounge wear – not quite “Vegas, baby!” but a little cheesier than “Vegas.” The lead singer isn’t snapping his fingers, but he’s leaning the microphone over and making that finger-snappy gesture, I can just tell.

It’s been almost 15 years since I heard it. Help me find it again, please?

If you’re thinking of the version heard in Home Alone (it’s played at the scene where Kevin splashes on the after shave), then according to the soundtrack , it’s done by The Drifters.

It’s been even longer since I saw Home Alone, but I’ll try to find a clip on Amazon or CDNow. It seems very likely to me that you’re right, given the situation I heard it in (part of a high school Christmas skit).
