Does eating Starbursts increase mucus production, or just feel like it?

Other fruity/sour candies do the same thing - I always end up feeling like I have to spit a lot if I eat too much. So, I was wondering - do I actually have more mucus? Is it just being sent to my mouth? Or does it just change my perception of mucusiness?

Well, in my experience eating candy like this increases salivary production simply because you’re EATING something delicious, tart, and sugary that takes a lot of jawing to consume. It’s also basically a block of sugar, so eating one is going to create a lot of thick, sticky syrup in your mouth.
