News today on social network Facebook posted by her mother says that OpalCat has passed away today. For those who knew her, knew of her, or just did lists of two and didn’t have a third point, she will be missed.
We have been advised that Opalcat passed away today.
This has been confirmed by a member of her family.
We have no further information at this time.
She was one of our earliest of the early – her Straight Dope registration number was 36 – and was with us since the AOL days. Opalcat was a part of our history.
Our condolences to her family and especially to her son Dominic.

Wow… from her online postings, it seems she was just embarking on a new chapter in her life. I hope that her family and loved ones take solace in their memories of her, and my thoughts to her son who is entirely too young to lose a parent.
