What are movies sequels that start off exactly where the previous movie ended? Or alternatively, prequels that end exactly where the “next” movie begins?
Examples:
The Karate Kid Part II begins with the ending of the tournament from the first movie and the immediate aftermath.
Both of the Back to the Future sequels begin with the last scene of the previous movie.
The Thing (2011) prequel ends with the Norwegians chasing the dog in their helicopter, leading directly into the beginning of The Thing (1982).
Mortal Kombat Annihilation picked up right after the ending of the first movie. Everyone’s standing around saying “Yeah, we did it!” and high fiving each other, and then all of a sudden some new evil guy pops up, kills Johnny who suddenly gained 20 lbs, and Rayden goes from looking like Christopher Lambert to looking like James Remar.
Almost correct. The last scene of Supremacy is Bourne contacting Landy (Joan Allen) and finding out his real name. This scene occurs again near the climax of Ultimatum. So in fact most of the last movie takes place before the end of the second!
Now that I think about it, the 3rd movie also picks up at the same point. It immediately flashes forward a year, but the very first scene is still the ending of the first movie, and instead of following Daniel and Mr. Miyagi, it goes into Kreese’s post-tournament story.
