A normally sensible friend tells me his new girl is doing research on the properties of sound waves in a medical context. She tells him that all organs in the body vibrate at their own frequencies, and that the two halves of the brain can vibrate at wildly different frequencies (he assumes this is bad.) The doctor(?) she works with has invented a table that delivers sound waves to the body in what I imagine must be a more special way than standing next to a speaker, and has found that he can bring the two misaligned brain hemispheres into sync with sound. My friend assumes this is desirable or effective in some way. Do our guts vibrate? Does this research have a worthwhile future?
