John Renbourn R.I.P.

I was deeply saddened to hear that John Renbourn, one of the all-time greats of folk guitar, died today. He did some truly transcendent stuff with Pentangle as well as solo and in collaboration with his Pentangle mate Bert Jansch (who left us a few years ago). He’ll be sorely missed!

Fare thee well, John. I always loved your music.

This is just too fine:

John Renbourn: “Little Niles”

I need to dig into his stuff. Renbourn’s name was always featured in guitar mags, always framed with loads of respect.

Along with Jansch and Stefan Grossman, John was among my favourite musicians. I even had the joy of seeing him in concert (with Grossman) nearly 40 yrs ago here in Melbourne.

Vale John. May your music continue to bring such pleasure to many generations to come.

Oh no! There goes my favorite guitarist. I’ve worn out several LPs, cassette tapes and CDs of The Lady and the Unicorn
over the years. Now the whole gorgeous thing is on YouTube.

RIP, Mr. Renbourn. I adored you! :frowning:

A nice appreciation from NPR: Influential Guitarist John Renbourn, Co-Founder Of Pentagle, Dies : NPR

Wonderful sense of humour (spelled the UK way for him ;)) and such great playing.
