They weren’t kidding. The pilot has been totally riveting and awesome. I’ll be watching for awhile to see if they can keep churning out great episodes. I’m hooked wondering about the backstory of Jaimie Alexander and what each of the tattoos represent.
I’ll wait until later tonight before posting details about the pilot. Don’t want to spoil it for the West coast.
It did seem familiar to me too. The Blacklist comes to mine, a mysterious master criminal arrives with a list of suspects to hunt down. His motives and allegiances unknown. He demands to work with one specific FBI agent.
Blindspot has a mysterious Jane Doe with a list of clues to crimes on her body. Her memory wiped. Her background, motives, and allegiances are yet to be discovered. She too is supposed to work with one specific agent. His name tattooed on her back.
I’m hoping Blindspot can deliver better story writing week to week. Keep it interesting and still believable throughout the season. I always felt The Blacklist suffered greatly in story writing. Great characters and plots but they often fall short in execution.
I stayed up to watch it last night. I didn’t really enjoy it I really want to like it but I think it needs to get a LOT better. I had high hopes, and it’s such a cool idea for a show. Maybe the shadowy figure idea is a little tired too; but everything seemed so cliched.
I liked it. From a technical perspective, I like the way they shot the “nude” scenes–artfully masking the bits that would draw the ire of the FCC. Looking forward to seeing this one develop.
I liked it quite a bit. The full-body tattoo gimmick reminded me of “Prison Break,” and many things were similar to other shows, but as a whole I found it engaging and fast-moving. Jaimie Alexander will always be Lady Sif to me, but that’s congruent with her character here.
Nerd that I am, the tattoo thing made me think of the old AD&D book/game “Curse of the Azure Bonds”. I half expected one of the tattoos to glow and/or fade when she beat the appropriate boss…
It uses some familiar themes. The flashback to her training is something that’s been done too many times even if this is a little different as a recovered memory.
How many top FBI field agents are Australian? Does he think he’s doing an American accent?
I did enjoy the fight scenes, as they were more realistic than the Hollywood trope of a 100-pound woman fighting a 180-pound man. She did get thrown around more, simply due to the mass issues.
But sudden-insight person working with law enforcement to stop small crimes while working on The Big Mystery… has been done to death.
Recorded it Monday, watched it last night. Yeah it was OK but did not live up to the hype I’ve been hearing the last couple weeks. I’ll watch a few more and see if it gets any better.
I’ve been thinking about it. The premise is really good and thats what got me excited. The crime they stopped (Statue Liberty bomber) was introduced and resolved a bit too easily. I guess because they used so much time introducing the characters and explaining the significance of naked Jane Doe (in a bag) and her tattoos. The pilot needed two hours to properly include a crime they had to investigate and stop.
Really hope this series improves next week. Focus more on the crimes they need to solve or stop.
I can’t recall a show where the “crime” they are investigating is secondary to the story. Most of the pilot and 2nd episode was spent on exposition. This episode we got a bunch of back story on the FBI agent’s family. They also include an extended fight scene with Jane beating the crap out of somebody. Plus a mandatory car chase scene. Very little time is spent, you know investigating? Or even tracking the bad guy. Just a few short scenes and they wrap it up.
Might not be so bad if they were investigating shoplifters. but these are supposed to be bad guys plotting major mayhem. Somehow scenes of the agents sitting around the office talking just seems a bit wrong.
it’s just the 2nd episode. I hope they get the character exposition out of the way and focus more on the crimes.
Got the 2nd episode on the DVR, probably give it a watch tonight. The pilot was just OK for me. I didn’t have too high hopes in the first place, but I’m giving it a fair chance.
The drone pilot killing people was an interesting idea. I wish they had focused more on it. They didn’t even seriously question the legality of using drones inside the US.
I’m still trying to decide if I’ll stick with this show. I prefer straight up procedural shows that focus nearly the entire hour on the crime.
I’ll watch four more episodes and see if it gets better. There are signs that this could be a good show. They are still trying to explain Jane’s prior life and how she’s connected to the FBI agent. I’m curious to see how that works out.
