Hey dog! Get outta that deer food!

Is that a dog taking a nap beside the food dish? Waiting for a refill?

Really cool pics!

Yeah, he is on guard duty. That is his job around here. He lets us know when anything he thinks should not be on the place is on the place. Deer are one of the things he objects to. Well, he objects to anything not of his pack.

His pack = Me, wife, 8 cats and birds.

What is most of his harassers that must be driven off:
Squirrels,
dogs he does not know well,
people and vehicles he does not know
Deer,
skunks,
raccoons,
Opossums,
He even killed a ground hog & a badger which was most impressive as they are mean motorscooters who fight real good.

He does not eat his kills, get plenty of food at home, just objects to other critters.

He is badly injured in his left rear leg, those that had him as a pup ran over him and did not have it fixed.

He was about 2 when we got him and we are making his life as good as we can afford and the deer feed place is to give him more critters he can read the riot act too that is close to the house so he does not have to try to run very far.

The deer just come right back in an hour or two so he is just having a grad time at his job and is giving them exercise so that during hunting season they will be ready and on alert. Bawahahahah

Should have more pictures to add tomorrow, Saturday, hummm later today actually.

The OP can have all of my deer.

We’ve had a black bear (of 2) roaming the neighborhood for the past week. I’ll send him your way.

Wonder how Zeus would react.

Neighbors are target shooting the big hunting guns right now & Zeus is a bit uncomfortable.

Deer are so beautiful. I will never understand how someone can shoot them. :frowning:

Well, some people get really hungry.

The few times I was that hungry in my life I was not where the deer were.

I think the fawns are really cute critters.

Glad you are enjoying the pictures. I like sharing them.

Some of my older CritterCams albums at this site. Not all by any means but nuff to put you to sleep anytime you want. bawahahahah

I don’t understand how they can shoot them, but man, I’m glad they do. Sooooo tasty!

Thanks for the idea of the critter cam. I’ll have to get one real soon.
We’ve had a fat, healthy looking brown bear, about a two-year old, in our back yard three times in the past week. He’s been eating our grapes.

Get a set of stills and a few video’s. Camera will do both, & I wanna see a bear. I’m in the wrong place for bears but we see them in the woods a lot East of me 30 miles or so.

Had a big cat when we lived down south but he never came by my camera. :::: rats ::::

Thanks for these, they are great! We also have a Crittercam but haven’t put it out in a while… What sort of food are you putting out there?

This early in the season I only put out deer corn as it is about the cheapest.

When we were down on the other place we had all kinds of critters and you can see in some of the older albums so I had, corn, dry dog food, dry cat food, sunflower seed, table scraps dog bones biscuits that I bought at the feed store in bulk.

Some milk in the spring for the mama’s and one or two bowls of water.

In the snow, I added a bale of hay for those that wanted to have a non wet place to stand or rest. Look at some of the other albums that have a couple hundred pictures. Was a delight down there.

Here at this place, we don’t have as much variety and we have a dog who likes to guard his territory so small critters are not around unless they are really hungry. There are possums, raccoons, badgers, ground hogs, skunks, coyotes, wild dogs, feral cats, ( we have 8 that have been acquired over the years, drops, semi-feral, injured, trapped etc., ) It says “Sucker” right across our foreheads in critter letters that they read just fine…

Late fall here I will add dry dog food & sunflower seeds when the natural food supplies start getting thin…
