The turn signals and brake lights work. Headlights work. But, it’s like everything that is supposed to come on when the headlights come on don’t (except for the headlights).
I’m not sure if this caused it, but I was towing a trailer. I pulled the trailer Fri night and the lights worked. I towed it again during the day on Sat, but don’t know about the lights since I didn’t need them during the day. Then, Sat night, with the trailer unhooked and unplugged, the lights didn’t work.
I towed the trailer home today, and the brake lights and turn signals still work on the trailer as well.
What could it be? I’ve checked all the relevant fuses - but if I don’t hear anything within the next 1 1/2 hours I’ll just check all the fuses.
The list of suspects includes the headlight switch, park light relay (if applicable), and Body Control Module. Do be absolutely, 100% sure you have tested the right fuses.
It was a fuse - labeled “Park Lamps”. It didn’t look blown, but I tested it with an OhmMeter and it showed infinity. A new fuse took care of the problem - apparently the trailer was too much of a load on the circuit.
I read on other sites that the BCM is prone to go bad on the VUES. Thank Og that wasn’t it - those have a $600-$700 price tag.
Thanks for the replies, though
For the benefit of all: this is not the first time I’ve seen a bad fuse overlooked because it didn’t appear to be blown. You could save yourself a lot of head-scratching by testing fuses rather than just inspecting them.
