The ads starring Tom Hanks soliciting contributions for the World War II memorial in Washington say that American veterans of that war are dying at a rate of a thousand a day. My question is to all you actuaries out there: Is that an accurate figure, or just a nice round number made up to pluck at people’s heartstrings?
You can find most of your answers in this thread that asked the same question just a couple of days ago (although, I see the number has fallen from 1,500 to 1,000).
OK, I can’t believe that I missed the other thread, but obviously I did. Thanks!
