BUT i’m pregnant this year, and my husband will be working so Its gonna be HBO’s Bette Midler NYE special for me!
We’ll have some family over on NYE with a “heavy hors d’oeuvres / light dinner” sort of buffet. We’ll probably be playing dominos much of the night, champagne toast at midnight, and everyone will leave by 12:20 AM, just like they did last year. Once they’re gone, we’ll probably be in bed by 12:30.
Nobody gets sick and everyone’s home before the amateur drunks* hit the road.
- I’m from Chicago, where NYE is amateur night. The professional-level drinking is on St. Patty’s Day.

My wife and I will likely put in an appearance at my sister’s annual shindig and then ring in midnight by ourselves at home.
Then I have a client’s holiday dinner party to cook for New Year’s night. The joys of being a private chef.
I’ve been the sober driver for about the last decade. No reason to stop now.
I now have plans to go to Queen Tonya’s house for New Year’s Eve.
I will be in Tunica, MS. Mostly at a poker table.
I suspect Cunctator lives closer to Sydney Harbour than I do, but I’m going to climb the top of the hill at the park at the end of the road and watch the fireworks (without having to deal with crowds, drunks and heat all at the same time.) Possibly I will have a little cider or maybe some nice wine. Then I will trundle off to bed.
