I noticed in some thread or other that it was a big deal/debate to “submit” data…“allow” its spiders…? I don’t even know how it works. And before then we would’ve been off the grid, so to speak?
Actually the server that held the Straight Dope store had a fatal crash a few years back and could not be recovered.

The SD Store, not the subscription server. At one point I think SDMB sold physical stuff.
I owned a SDMB t shirt for quite a while. Wore it on vacation down at Cape May. You know. On the beach. Around town. Just to see if someone stopped and gawked and then asked who I “was”. 
A few people stopped and looked hard, nobody approached. Oh, those shy Dopers. Always wanted a coffee mug. Never bought one. :smack:

No merchandise is currently available and we are, sad tp say, out of coffee mugs.
I think this also means we can’t have any new moderators.
