(#1)USC + (#2)Oklahoma = An Asskickin'

Simultaneously funny and sad. It’s early in the 4th quarter and they’re already promoting the “We’re going to Disneyland” championship chant.

Nope. I don’t recall talking any smack while the game was in progress. Afterwards it’s fair game, but like I said, you never know when it’ll come back to bite you.

55-10. God DAMN the BCS.

BTW, I think you’re safe to talk whatever now. I personally find it disappointing that OU is getting manhandled so badly, but that just shows how good USC is this year. I’m convinced.

If the Sooners come back and won this thing now, this is the best goddamned football game in the history of the game.

The only thing I’m convinced of is that Auburn should have passed OU in the polls long, long ago.

BTW AD, here’s hoping, for your sake, that the Steelers are not the only “other” team not to win the Super Bowl after a 15-1 season.

I just feel bad for Bobby Stoops. As an undergrad he was a small, slow, but sure handed receiver and a decent kid… I thing the video of the guy running into the goal post and knocking it down was Bobby. I hate to see him embarrassed, as much ill will as I might have for Oklahoma U.

I find that incredibly hard to believe. Not that it really matters, but I find that incredibly hard to believe.

The only reason Auburn is even undefeated this year is because they didn’t get their annual thrashing at the hands of USC in the regular season.

Auburn didn’t look good at all against VT. I would have liked to see Utah vs USC, but even that would have been a blowout. USC is so good it is unfair.

Sure they did. VT has a tougher defense than OU or (arguably) USC. If not for a bare couple of good, heads-up VT plays, it would have been an Auburn shutout.

I feel fairly comfortable saying that Auburn would have at least showed up a lot stronger than coughoverratedcough OU.

As a Sooner fan, I have to agree. USC was the best this year.

No, Auburn would not have done any better. Look at their almost blowing in the final minutes of their bowl game. Or their almost total lack of red zone performance against VT. Face it, there really is a #1 team this year. And it’s USC.

With that out of the way, let be the 471st to say, KILL THE BCS!

As for any fans talkin’ smack: You weren’t out there playing. You just chose the right team to root for. So, be proud of your team, but for god’s sake, show some class.

What about the other 2 top 10 Div1A teams that ended up undefeated? Bummer, dudes. It used to happen under the old system, too. We need a play off system.

Total bull shit, btw, but I won’t say it.

No doubt USC deserved their spot. That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying OU did NOT deserve it, and it was only the pollsters’ reticence in having top-3 shakeups that kept them there. Auburn finished the season stronger than OU did, and they won against a scrappy VT (who had the 3rd best defense in the nation.) Again, if not for a couple gutsy, heads-up plays on VT’s part, they would not have even gotten onto the scoreboard.

I firmly believe that Auburn’s (#1 in the nation) defense would have held USC much better than OU did. But we’ll never know. Why? Because the goddamned BCS is a fucking bullshit popularity contest instead of being an impartial assessment of who can win the the games and outlast their opponents in a real playoff structure.

Whatever, clown. Auburn (and Utah) earned a chance to make their national-championship case. How? THEY DID NOT LOSE. Put 'em on the goddamned field and let them slug it out. If USC wins, hey, they’re the undisputed champs. Who can argue?

Any time you have a national sport that produces 4 undefeated teams in a season, and two of them get left out of the hopes for a title, the system is shot. Auburn and Utah got raped by an unfair system.

I have little doubt that Auburn would have shredded OU’s unbelievably overrated, porous defense as well. OU did not deserve their #2 spot, and they proved it tonight.

Why do you think they would have even met in a playoff situation?

The “#1” defense struggled against VT. They had to hang on just to squeak out a win.

As fans of our respective teams, Ogre, we will just have to disagree on your first points. In favor of my opinion, see the national polls of experts and the computer ratings. Sure, those polls are admittedly not perfect. Still, what’s done is done. The system everyone agreed to picked the two teams to play for the championship. Second guessing is a fruitless endeavor.

And I still think this year’s USC would’ve also manhandled Auburn, based on what they did tonight to a very good football team.

As for your 2nd point, the BCS slam… I’ll sign any petittion anyone has to get rid of the BCS. And when the BCS finally does die, remember to thank Jason White.

Ah, my internet connection is back, and I see that many feel that OK was not deserving. I think they actually were deserving of the opportunity to get their butts kicked by USC. This only strengthens the argument (and chances) of a playoff system. USC knows what it was like last year to be in Auburn’s shoes this year. Totally BcS. I would like to see Auburn (or Utah) get a crack at USC, and USC respond.

Tonight’s lesson: Turnovers definitely kill.

I would have chosen OU over Auburn too.

Auburn doesn’t have much improvements from the team that got shut out by USC last year, and didn’t even get past USC’s 33 yard line. The entire game! That’s almost worst than OU today.

Plus, OU has beaten Texas and Texas Tech, who are looking strong, so I would have ranked them ahead.

At this point, I would rank Utah second and Auburn third. I’d have a hard time leapfrogging Texas over OU though, since OU did shut them out.
I think we can all agree that the BCS sucks, though. Even a 4-team playoff (USC, OU, Auburn, Utah) would have been a vast improvement.

Btw, Ogre, I was being cordial. Then I see you call me a clown because your fave team doesn’t get what you thing they deserve?

Fuck you, you worthless piece of shit.
