If you’re doing drugs, and he starts making sense, stop doing drugs. Conversely, if you are not doing drugs, and he starts making sense, well…
Don’t bother stopping. Drugs just aren’t that powerful. They can make you see purple aardvarks crawling out of people’s noses, but Bush making sense ? Nah.
Any tightie righties on the board willing to defend this fucker now?
Thought not.
They appear to be migrating to this thread.
I listen to Bush’s speeches because I never know when he’s going to declare martial law. I don’t want to miss that bit of history.
I got hooked on thrill-a-minute Presidential speeches when I walked into the dorm lobby one night to a real jaw-dropper: President Kennedy and the Cuban missile crisis. Eleven years later President Nixon was firing people who refused to fire people who were investigating him. We listened to every word he said just for the adrenaline high.
Another reason that I like to watch Bush give a speech is that I was once told that the FBI is good about taking a joke. I keep wondering if they will come to take the one on camera.
Everything that I remember and everything that I’ve been able to find, including your link, indicates that the last American troops pulled out in 1973. Pulling together information from several different sources, I find that the first Prisoners of War were released on February 11, 1973; the last American troops were pulled out on March 29; the last Prisoners of War were released in April 1973.
From your link:
Nixon had made some promises to South Vietnam about economic and military aid, but Congress cut the aid severly in 1974, I think. (It was just making South Vietnam leaders wealthy anyway.) The military aid was to be in the form of some sort of air support. To the best of my knowledge, that did not materialize. I really think we would have heard about it. 1974 was the year that the Watergate Hearings were held and Nixon was in the news with every breath drawn.

If I have something new to learn about this, then fill me in. I know that you are an informed person.
The reason that I’m giving so many cites is that I had just mentioned this within the past week in another thread, so I’m wondering what’s up.
According to your cite, 1974 was the year the U.S. cut off financial help, not military help.
“Material support”: when referring to Iran. This, technically, is cause for war. Watch that one real careful-like.
“The course of this nation doesn’t depend on the decisions of others.”
Yeah, way to go on expanding the diplomatic front.
What I found most offensive was that he didn’t just purport to speak for himself or for America, he purported to speak for the world on a few occassions, the whole fucking world; as in, the world will not tolerate X… … the world will not be blackmailed by X… …the opinion of the world is X… …
Then he brought up the WMD thing again along with all the other distorted intelligence he used to make the case for war in the first place.
Shit wrong speech.
It’s so hard to tell. Is that his 2002 State of the Union speech, his 2003 SotU, 2004 SotU, 2005 SotU, 2006 SotU, 2007 SotU, or one of many other freaking speeches the man has badly given over the years?
