10 Weird and Wonderful Experiences in the USA

Great post! It’s always nice to hear from such an observant visitor! So glad you enjoyed it here and come on over to the Right Coast next time–it’s vastly different.

OK guys, get the raw bacon and sourdough bread back out and fer gawdsakes remember we’re driving on the right again now!

And the salads come as a separate course. This lead to an early experience of dining in a US restaurant with a fellow Kiwi where the salads arrived, and we waited for the main course… and waited… until the waitress cautiously enquired if there was something wrong with our (untouched) salads. :smack:

And it doesn’t go off either. Living in Iowa: buy bread, put bread in cupboard, forget bread, find it two weeks later all white and soft and fluffy. Now, that’s just not right… you leave local bread for two weeks and it’ll be well on it’s way to an advanced civilization.

Well, you didn’t go to Dodger Stadium. Nothing but the finest in stainless steel troughs. It’s class all the way, baby.

As a native Californian, I envy your experience of seeing those sights for the first time. I’ve driven the roads you were on dozens of times, and it’s hard not to become a little ho-hum about the scenery. As Duckster implied (I think), California doesn’t have a monopoly on scenery, or history, or culture, but it’s hard to beat for variety.

I spent three weeks “down under” earlier this year, and had a marvelous time. As soon as I can afford it, I’m going back!

Any stadium or racetrack as well. God, the smell. . .
