that’s for sure; the more I read the angrier I get. the ride’s “designer” was completely unqualified and they deliberately chose Kansas because of a complete lack of regulation.
the man actually arrested used to run the park after working his way up from being a lifeguard.
the designer, Jeff Henry, needs to go down.
I wonder if every other ride in that park (and every other one these people were involved with) was shut down and thoroughly inspected, given how poorly this one was designed.
And it’s really sad to see that photo of the boy shown in every article.
Schlitterbahn co-owner Jeff Henry arrested in Texas
from the link
- Jeff Henry was booked into the county jail on multiple counts of aggravated battery and aggravated child endangerment.*
also at the link a long statement from the company because they are shocked at charges. paraphrasing: they and their families went on that ride themselves so obviously they couldn’t have known it was dangerous.
except for all the other serious injuries it caused, of course. :dubious:
It seems like the suspects have that perfect storm of greed, callous disregard for life, raging ego, and clueless idiocy that usually results in death by misadventure. The difference being that in this case, they inflicted injuries and death on others instead of getting a Darwin Award.
Bumping this thread because a judge dismissed the criminal charges. He said that some of the evidence presented to the grand jury would have been inadmissible before a trial jury. Here’s the article from the Kansas City Star.
