10 year time lapse of Sun by NASA

This is an hour but you can skip around.

I particularly enjoyed 16:55-16:59. 42:42 was very smooth.

I skipped through, and it seemed to me in the last couple years, starting late 2017 or so, but especially by 2019, the solar flare activity seemed to drop drastically. At least, I assume those geyser-like eruptions are solar flares.

Well, yes. The sun has a ~11 year solar cycle, where the approximate middle of that cycle is peak activity. Solar Cycle 24, which has probably just ended, reached it’s peak solar flare number in 2014. By 2018-ish, there was little or no exceptional activity. From here Cycle 25 will begin and reach it’s peak in probably 2026.
