106 Years Ago: The Manila "insurgency"

Today is the 106th anniversary of the precipitating event of The Philippine-American War . Before you groan and say “ancient history”, read the article. You may see some familiar words like “insurgency” and “torture”.

It’s interesting. I believe that this war is the least well-known of all the conflicts America has ever been involved in. It’s not an episode to be proud of, certainly, but in the long run, was it good for the U.S? For the Phillipines? What positives can we take from this specific conflict in retrospect?

Well, it gave us the 1911 Colt .45. I’d call that a positive! :smiley:
