That sounds like how my Social Studies book in eight grade had it laid out. It crossed out everything that was superseded, but left the 21st completely alone.
And I think they can’t read the whole thing because some Southern White guy would invariably read one of the racist parts, and it would be offered as their true position in our sound-bite newspapers and news shows.
I think the GOP finally got a few black congressional members, so they could actually avoid this. Plus, I kinda like the symbolism of having a black congress member read how when the country started out, he didn’t count as a full person.
Did they read the bit about the slave trade being protected until the year 18whatever? That technically hasn’t been superseded, though its obviously pretty irrelevant nowadays.
Is this certain? It may take 60 votes for the Demos to pass a bill in the Senate, but the Repugnants only need 41 votes. All they need do (and some have already almost said as much) is commit to filibustering everything until the Demos agree to the entire Repugnant agenda and (since this is BBQ Pit) lick their scrufty a-holes clean.
