DDT is still in use, and is specifically allowed for malaria and other disease control. However, it’s lost much of its effectiveness in a lot of crucial areas specifically because of overuse.
There is also the likelihood now that years of on-going autism research will be set back significantly. The paper led others to make the wrong assumptions and fund research that could have been better spent in another area of autism research. It’s tragic that families who have suffered with children with austism have had their passion for a cure mislead by bad science. I think autism activism in principal is noble and necessary.
