13% of Americans do not believe in inter-racial marriage????

Doing a little random searching, I found this webpage which seems to give a reasonable summary of the position that the Bible says to stick to people of one’s own religion, but it doesn’t say anything about sticking to one’s own race:

Supporting anti-miscegentation laws and not approving of interracial marriage are at different points on the racism spectrum.

The 1960’s was not marked by a generational consensus towards racial harmony. The fact that they remember MLKs assassination doesn’t mean they all felt the same way about it. It’s one thing to believe in equality its another thing to be OK with your kids marrying people of a different race.

Excellent article! I was raised in the very conservative / fundamentalist Church of Christ, and that was pretty much what my Sunday School teachers all taught – no race prejudice in the Bible, “we are all one under Christ”. And that is what I found in the Bible itself, as well.

The point I take issue with is your implication that people in their 60s & 70s are one monolithic block of racists.
