14 year old sex and drugs in Canada

Practice makes perfect. And if you’re a practicing homosexual, it’s even more fun!

This was a well defined doctor-patient relationship as well.

One would hope that there are legal impediments for the exploitation of those at the tender age of 14. As far as a solution to this particular case is concerned I agree with you. But the removal of a bad influence could certainly be a start in rescuing this girl.

The question was did you have protected sex each and every time when you were 14. Your previous post specified 16. My concern is the level of maturity of a 14 year old. There is a big difference between a 14 year old and a 16 year old. As you pointed out you have consistantly behaved responsibly since you were 16.

Muffin, you and matt_mcl ? Who would have thunk!

The PC police will jump on you for thinking that 14-y.o. and a 24 year-old shagging nasty is wrong. I don’t know if it is or not. Not every 14 year old is a naiive child, but also not every 14 year old is a wise and far-thinking adult. I know that I have a hard enough time dealing with my nineteen year old friend dating a fourteen year old. It’s just weird to me. And before you jump on me about it, she is very immature and witless. The people involved really make whether there is a problem.

But have the guy turned in for dealing. A guy who pushes and screws fourteen year olds doesn’t really have a huge future ahead of him in his current lot of life.

When it comes to young adults having sex, I’m not going to claim we can stop it or even that we should. I started at 15 and, in all honesty, I was more responsible then than I was in my later, wilder years. What does bother me though is the age difference. This fourteen-year-old may be willing/involved/responsible, but the fact remains that she’s with a 24-year-old loser who thinks shagging barely-grown girls is appropriate. If a grown man can’t find a girl without cruising the Junior section in Macy’s, it’s probably because he lacks the class, security, intelligence, and integrity to attract a woman who doesn’t still live with her Mommy. Creep.

I don’t know anything about Canadian law, but this kind of approach would have practical problems.

Let’s imagine a 16 year old girl is in a sexual relationship with her 18 year old boyfriend. Their relationship continues for 12 months, until he turns 19.

Under the above rule, they would have to ajourn their sexual relationship for two years, until the girl ‘catches up’!

Does this mean that if Traci Lords had done her movies in Canada then we could still buy em??

Several people, Belladonna and erislover will recall that we discussed the issue of 14 year olds and consent in this thread , http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=105576&perpage=50&highlight=fourteen%20teacher&pagenumber=1, involving a 14 year old girl performing oral sex on older high school students in March of this year. I had nearly forgotten about it, but what surprises me on review is that I had advanced a completely contrary position to what I’m taking in this case. Truthfully, I’m confused.

Sir, yes, sir! salutes sharply

Anyway, Canadian age of consent is as described - no sliding scale or anything else. 14, except for appearing in porn, anal sex, or position of influence.

The s.159 prohibition against anal sex involving a person under 18 has been struck down in Ontario in R. v. M.(C.) (1995), 41 C.R. (4th) 134; 98 C.C.C. (3d) 481 (Ont. C.A.), and in other provinces since then, such as in P.Q. in Roy v. R, [1998] A.Q. no 935.

However, the law has not been repealed by Parliament, so occasionally police still use it to harass young gays, despite knowing full well that the law has been struck down. The gays are arrested and run through the system, but the charges are eventually dropped. Since one can’t sue the government to force them to change laws, we are left with an illegal law which the courts will not enforce being misused by police to make life hell for one of our nation’s minorities. That truly sucks, er… blows, er… whatever. Check out Lucas v. Toronto Police Service Board et al. (2001), 54 O.R. (3d) 715.

Ah, yeah, protected sex. She put the condom on herself, actually. Not that she didn’t trust me to do it, it was just more… fun? Good link, grien; I remember that one. Not quite as heated as a some have been, but a good case nonetheless.

Alright, private! I want you to go over there and have sex with those men, while I stay here and masturbate!

Ahh, so the guy has sex with 14-year-olds and might be a little socially underdeveloped. I don’t think it makes him the creep a lot of folks seem to think he is.

Well, I will proclaim that I sure as hell didn’t know what I was doing when I started having sex at 18.

I’m a quick study though.

Hyothetical: is there a power imbalance between a 14 year old and a 24 year old simply by virtue of the age difference apart from any other considerations? Let’s assume for the moment that each person is OK in all respects. Is the age difference alone going to cause a power imbalance?

IMHO, yes. Which one doesn’t have to go to school? Can live alone? Has a driver’s license? Can drink? Can work full-time? Don’t tell me those things don’t matter.

So I guess I’m the only one that read this

and thinking
“damn-he had a kid when he was 10???”
