If you like blondie cop + slightly ethnic cop shows set in Southern California, surely you should seek out Starsky & Hutch.
So’s Dukes for all but the first season.
You’re correct. For some reason, *Dukes of Hazzard * has more of a 1970s feel to me, while *A-team * screams the 1980s. Maybe that’s because I associated *A-Team * with high school years for me (1983-1987).
Also, I tend to associate *Dukes * with *Smokey and the Bandit * and Every Which Way but Loose, both from the 1970s.
Hey, '83-'86 here!
Dang! Shogun missed the 70’s by one year, as it was broadcast in 1980. Bend the rules a bit and see this television movie. It was a good one, and I could see it again.
ALAS! The Six Million Dollar Man is not on DVD, as far as I know.
Taxi just squeaks in at 1978 - I didn’t realize it was on ABC for 4 years and switched to NBC!
I loved Nightstalker! True, it made me want to sleep with my Nanna because they scared me (in my defence, I was 7) and LOVED it. I have found 2 of the movies from the series but would love to own the lot.
The Brady Bunch
Sanford and Son
Laverne and Shirley
Happy Days
The Odd Couple
Welcome Back Kotter
All can be found here and other years as well
Kung Fu
What’s Happening?
Incredible Hulk
The last two are available on hulu.
Not for Region 1, no. Universal, who put out the series, lost the rights to SMDM and The Bionic Woman around the time of their merger with NBC. Dimension Films picked up the rights in hopes of making a vehicle for Jim Carrey in the titular role, which was subsequently and mercifully aborted.
I received the DVD set of Kolchack: The Nightstalker, and I’ve been watching them when I travel. Just as good the second time around…
I haven’t seen “Upstairs, Downstairs” in donkey’s years (as Mrs Bridges would say) so I should order it. Particularly when many of the episodes from seasons 1 and 2 were not shown on public TV WNET 13 in New York because they were “too adult”. Like the one where Lady Marjorie was sleeping with an Army friend of her son James. That had ramifications in many later episodes. But not for the prudes in NYC. The thing is when I was living in Buffalo in the mid 70s all these episodes were broadcast in prime time on Canadian TV!
“Streets of San Francisco” is a different kettle of fish, but worth a try.
