2.5 inches is a troll.

Thus making the ONLY people capable of responding the boards active doctors.
El Cid Viscoso answered it by citing a medical manual. My guess is he’s not a doctor.
For a normal thread, yes. However, given the particular combination of question and poster, this one requires some special handling. You can see the reason why in this thread - there aren’t very GQ OPs that spark a Pitting within a few moments of being opened.
I understand your reasoning for the first warning, but I didn’t see how DDG’s post would be any more or less disruptive or inflammatory than a factual post from a pediatrician. Cracking down on snark or off-topic jokes for that thread was a good move, but I don’t see what purpose was served by cracking down on reasoned speculation.
And man, those unreliable boners when you’re three can be sooo embarrassing.
Well at the risk of being whooshed, when I want to ask “why?” it’s always good to have reliable evidence of my claim.

No heavens no I haven’t got the training, I just buy medical guides when I find them cheap and fairly new. Army surplus, etc.
… also, it can be a springboard for research …
Great, just great. We’ve all seen the bizzarre GQ that gets random and tentative answers for a while until someone comes in and says something along the lines of, "Well, in the name of science I went out and did the fieldwork on this one and … "
I kinda hope nobody does that for 2.5 IOF this time around.

I was making a joke. Sorry.
You don’t think this has to do with the heat generated? It’s not living in a vacuum: the mods are likely drenched with Report This Post posts.
Yeah, but are the less mature mods more drenched with Report This Post posts than the more mature mods?

eww gross

HELLO ! 2.5 ! YOU OUT THERE !?

You one of those smelly under bridge dwellers or you just got a lot on your mind?

I know I poked at you before but I’m really undecided about your intentions.

Some of us think a little too much for our own good I do beleive.

You agree?

That’s not a scientific answer.

How is it trolling to ask a question with a factual answer is GQ?

As for why I asked it, Inigo Montoya pretty much nailed it.

I think 2.5 Inches should go suck on an eagle’s beak.

The premise! I nailed the premise

2.5 I really wish you’d be more clear!

Bit of a judgment call, I guess. DDG’s post was speculation, and I just thought the bar needed to be set pretty high for that one.
This is exactly what I was trying to avoid by keeping a close rein on that thread.
This is some kind of a joke, right? You didn’t really think that anything you could possible have done short of removing the thread altogether was going to prevent the inevitable Pit thread did you? Not on this, of all boards.
It is, as it stands, a strictly factual question, and in my judgment not outside the bounds of what is permitted on the board. However, I do intend to ensure that it not deviate from those bounds. If it does, I will close it.
Absolutely correct.

ETA: Not to say that I don’t understand why the Pitting, though. A poster without 2 1/2’s history might not have been Pitted. I predict - as a poster, not a mod, having seen this type of member once or twice before - he’ll eventually get suspended, and eventually get banned as he has no conception of where the edge is.

He wasn’t trying to stop this thread from being opened. He was trying to keep the stuff that belongs in here out of the GQ thread.

That’s not what he said.
Mosier, if you believe **Two and a Half Inches of Fun ** to be a troll, and posting merely to get a negative reaction, the most counter productive thing you could have done is to open a Pit thread about it. This is exactly what I was trying to avoid by keeping a close rein on that thread.
I dunno. Looks to me like he didn’t want a Pit thread about it at all and hoped that the preemptive moderating would prevent that.
So why not just close the thread and be done with it?
Leave aside completely your knowledge of the OP, and tell us why it is not a perfectly valid question. Please.
