Ah, the troll witch-hunt continues. God forbid we have controversial questions here, a forum dedicated to a column that explores questions such as why shit is brown and what the calorie content of semen is. “Oooh, I feel the uncomfortable sensation of my shit stirred! Please, mommy moderator, this poster is starting topics that give me the vapors! I’m too motherfucking stupid to use the ignore feature, or simply not read his threads, ban him!”
Sweet jesus, if you can’t man up and handle these threads, don’t goddamn read them.
How the hell did you get to be on the Straight Dope Science Advisory Board and not notice this is exactly where such questions are frequently asked? Both in Cecil’s column and in GQ?
Nonsense. Had I asked that question, or had you asked it, why would it not be a valid question? It’s a question about human biology, phrased in a neutral presentation.
The assumption that 2 1/2 has ulterior motives re: pre-pubescent girls is unwarranted, in my opinion. Though he’s somewhat of a jerk, I haven’t seen him start threads titled, “How do I pick up 10-year-old girls on MySpace?” or, “My girlfriend’s 6-year-old wants me!”
Have you ever actually read the column? I see no reason why a column that answered “Has 1 in 8 people had sex with an animal?” would have any problem with this one.
I have to say I’m quite happy to see this attitude. I think in the past several new members have been banned as trolls for asking questions any long-timer would have no trouble with.
The problem is not that he asks controversial questions and holds some controversial opinions. The problem is that he holds every controversial opinion! I mean, four of the last ten threads he started were closed. It gets to the point where you’re forced to conclude that he cannot possibly hold all of these opinions and is merely being a perpetual contrarian for the sole purpose of eliciting negative reactions. Stirring up shit for the sake of stirring up shit. In other words, a troll.
Please do, asshole. I am getting sick and tired of people who say, “It’s obvious!” without explaining why it’s obvious. Unless you assume that 2 1/2 is doing research, it’s not obvious.
