2 Day Presidential Election

We should hear more about this in the next couple of days but apparently election officials are concerned about a record turnout of voters this year. They’re afraid the system won’t be able to handle the large numbers so they’ve decided to have the election on two consecutive days instead of just one.

Republicans will vote on Tuesday and Democrats will vote on Wednesday. This is a little unfair because all the Democrats have to do to win is wait for the Republican votes to be counted and then turn out just enough voters to win, but they are the incumbent party so they get the advantage.

So remember – all you Republicans get out there on Tuesday and you Democrats try to be fair when you vote on Wednesday.

You’re evil, pluto. Very nice.

Well, pluto, I did think it pretty odd. But then you have to remember the new way we’re supposed to vote. While the Democrats have to vote the old, boring, traditional way in the booth, the Republicans get to vote the new way. All the Republicans have to do is call their vote in to the local network, and the local TV crews get to tally the votes.

Good luck!

This is a joke, right? Today, I’ve read through CNN, the Wall Street Journal, American Spectator, Commentary Magazine, Insight Magazine, The Daily Republican and the National Review. I’m also listening to Limbaugh right now. I didn’t see or hear anything about this, and these are definitely publications and a radio show that would jump all over a story like this. Where did you read or here it?

That should be hear it. Stupid typos.

The sad thing is some people will believe it…

This reminds me of a joke I saw years ago on the Carol Burnett show. It takes place on an airplane:

Coach passengers, you may disembark now.
[Large group of people shuffle off. A pause…]
First class passengers, we will be landing in ten minutes.

Algarond, Algarond, Algarond…

Aglarond, welcome to the Land of Whoosh.

I know. I know. I’ve been a little edgy lately over the election and I keep hearing crap like this all over the place. And I don’t mean as jokes. It’s coming from people who actually believe that they’re true. I’ll calm down wednesday.

I meant to include that I heard the same thing yesterday, but it was the other way around. It had the Reps voting on wednesday.

That’s a dirty rotten trick. I mean with Democrats it’s funny, but don’t they know that Republicans have no sense of humor?

This “rumor” just made the hourly headlines on NPR. (The existence of the rumor, not the rumor itself!) I was starting to think pluto had the ear of the national media and this rumor had gone from the SDMB to NPR in just a few hours! But apparently others were spreading this before it got here.

I shudder to think that anyone could be so gullible as to believe this.

(No offense intended, Aglarond, if it’s friends of yours that are emailing you about this!!)
P.S. Yesterday I heard turnout is expected to be low for a presidential year. This surprises me, not because I think people are any less apathetic, but because of all the hype about it being so close.

I received 3 e-mails about it yesterday, but I didn’t get any today. When I saw a thread open up about it, but with the opposite information, I decided to figure out where the hell it was all coming from, hence the references to the mags I read everyday. I was hoping to find a source. I never believed it, but stuff like that really does bother me when I have all these people e-mailing it to me, thinking it’s real. It shouldn’t, I know, but it does.

Actually Pluto, you have it wrong. I can’t blame you, after all, the news just came out a couple of minutes ago. Gore has dropped out of the race. He is urging all Gore supporters to vote for Nader.

Natch, Snopes already has this covered:
