Lots of the 2-H weapons in WoW look pretty darn awkward. Just wait until you run across a lvl 80 Gnome weilding one of those epic 2-Handers. Reminds me of a flea circus - you can hardly even see the little bugger, just a sword swinging around.
I’ve never played a warrior, but as far as I can tell, the size of the weapon shouldn’t get in the way of your gameplay. My Death Knight finds the 2H swords and axes to be quite useful.
The important thing with weapons is really the damage (DPS) and any bonuses. If you post the stats for your sword, you could get more specific advice here.
In the meantime, try it out! (See, you were right!) Are you killing the mobs faster with the new weapon?
Oh, and you might need to use it for a while to get your skill up, if it’s your first time using that weapon. Fight some lower level mobs for a while so that you don’t find yourself missing all the time in the important fights.
Quasi, the animations of the weapon may look awkward, but they won’t detract from its effective use. Two-handers give you more punch per hit, but hit much less often than dual-wielded one-handers, both because there are two one handers, and because one-handers (usually) have a much lower weapon speed.
If you can’t dual wield yet, a two-hander will be much more effective than a one-hander + shield set up, assuming that the ilvl of the weapons are similar, and that what ever bonuses they have are equally usefull to your class.
As in all things, going out and using it is the best way to find out.
Got into a tussle with a DustDevil and then got triple-teamed by the Rotten Undead, which leads me to ask: Is the use of the two-handed sword bringing these bad boys out?
Because I don’t usually encounter either of them with just my short sword and shield. And remember. I’m still chasing down Defiaas Highwaymen., Knuckledusters, and Pathfinders at level 17…
Leveling warriors is best done dual wielding one-handed weapons, although you won’t get dual wield until level 20 so a 2-hander is a good bet until then. 1-hand sword + shield combos are only for tanks as they put out very little damage.
The game doesn’t change what mobs are present based on what your weapon is. A WoW server is a persistent world that exists even when you aren’t playing.
Typically people say using 2handers over dual-wielding is not the best way to level a warrior. In my experience, the difference is negligible.
I dont think the WoW monsters are out doing monster stuff when there are no players present, running like that takes an enormous number of servers (Everquest ran like that, where totally player empty zones had mobs running around fighting each other and doing mob stuff and even the old world alone took something like 30 computers to host)
if you just mean its there when you are offline then yeah, it is an mmo after all.
